Morning everyone
Chardonnay - (((hugs))) How old is the boy? I think it's dreadful of him to have put you in this position, but maybe he's too young to know ? Maybe mum 'put him up to it' or at leasst encouraged it, in wich case your OH needs to have a word if poss. Couldn't you tell him you've already got his pressie? Or if he's old enough - tell him straight. Also, I agree with skystar - can't the old Xbox come to you?
As for the pocket-money/stickers thing, did you ever see that debt programme a couple of years ago (can't remember what it was called) but it had Colleen Nolan and family and it went through their budget. She used to buy her younger boy (11yo) a pack of cards every day - and she was broke!! The 'guru' said - give the boys a set amount each month and tell them what they are responsible for buying - as they get older they have to buy more more themselves etc. 11yo was given about £200 (based on what mum usually spent on them) and told what he had to buy (friends b'day pressies and cards, own treats, days out, fast food etc) He could buy what he wanted and when but was told when the money ran out - he DID NOT get any more. Suddenly, these cards looked really expensive and he never bought another packAlso at end of month - he'd only spent 1/2 of his money :rotfl: It's a very simplified verson - but was a fab program. Maybe that's what you could try - or a version of it.
Anyway - broken night's sleep courtesy of bed-hopping boys. Am up and breakfasted, but boys are currently acting out Star Wars under the computer tableHave about 3 loads of dry washing to sort and iron today (or tomorrow
) and a couple of loads to put on. My nephew is coming to stay tonight so will have to get spare mattress and bedding out - will put it in DS1's room - so he may stay in his own bed tonight. He's never had anyone stay over before
Tea - errr, dunno yet. May do my liver and bacon in SC - if I get liver out of the freezerNo-one else will eat it, but I think I've a small shepherds pie in freezer that will be big enough. May even make some more curry base sauce later too. Want to finish shampooing upstairs carpets today - did my bedroom yesterday.
Ok - off to refill my cup. Hope you all have a great day and catch ya all later :0

Morning all
I read this thread all the time but don't usually post as I work full time so don't do too much OSing during the day. Today DS woke at 6.30, BM is on - set to finish at 8am (wishful thinking as that was the time I thought DS would probably wake up this morning!) Doh! In between having a look on MSE I'm playing trains on a train track that covers the floor of the lounge (fun huh?) - but I have to do my bit don't I? lol. No idea what the day holds really- I'm looking after the neighbours little boy (16 months) at some point today for a few hours and OH has decided that he needs to go clothes shopping as he's away on business for a couple of weeks - so we'll ALL have to go - next door's little one too! Could be stressful :rotfl:
Good Luck with the driving Kiwichick
Have a lovey day all

Morning everyone!
Sorry about the Stepson thing - its frustrating. But do agree with above posts - talk to his Mum - she may know nothing about it really and he is just hoping????
Anyway, today I am off into town. Need to buy a few small bits and really want the time on my own for a few hours actually!!!!! I am thinking of getting a nice cooked breakfast, but dont know if I can justify the expense!
Need to go to the library - DD1 is doing Jane Eyre and I am not buying a book (They do not give them out at school!!!! Nothing! No text books, nothing! It is a really really really naff school!!! But She wont let us move her)
Joint is out and defrosting ready for tomorrow (I remembered!!!!)
DD1 and DD2 are staying at friends houses tonight, so piece and quiet once the little ones are in bed!!!
Saved some cash on an alarm (luckily!!!) A friend has an old wireless one, but the PIRs need batteries and I need to find an instruction book to go with it, but she has given it to me!!!! So the cost should not be too much!
Off to finish breakfast - all the girls are up now!
Talk later

Good morning all!!
(((((Hugs))))) to all that need them!
Up at 6.00am today, was meant to be my lie in but DH didn't 'hear' the children, and once I'd been up for 15 mins, I didn't bother going back to bed! (Made sure DH got up though!)
Finished my ironing last night, although by tomorrow there'll be another load to do (you know how it is!)
Have cleaned out the fridge this morning, tided up a cupboard in the kitchen (doing a bit of a stock-take of cleaning materials etc as I go!) Am going to do bathroom cupboards etc once I've got dressed - this is all as part of the Feb 'use-up' challenge!
Have some washing and general cleaning to do today. Also want to go to the tip to take bottles/paper etc to recycling!
OH going to football today. I'll take kids to see SIL who has a DVD that they want to watch!
Dinner tonight is burger, mash & beans (for kids - using up freezer stuff!) and pizza for OH and me! Not the most exciting meal, but at least I'll be continuing to empty the freezer! (I want to defrost it this weekend!)
Really need to clean the cooker - but it's a job I HATE!! Any tips to make it any easier???
Well, need to get showered and dressed. Am hoping OH will take kids to the park/local hills to burn off some energy, and allow me to do a bit of housework!
Take care everyone and have a great Saturday!!!:wave:20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

Good Morning all
Sorry about the stepson problems Chardonnay, I have loads of probs with one of mine, though he is 20 now! He told me last year that his Mum put him up to all sorts of hassle, told him his Dad had loads of money. He now realises she was lying, but the times he got money from his Dad & we ended up going without.
My kids have always been good about money, so I'm lucky there.
Mad blitz of housework this morning as I've a friend coming for lunch, we are having a brainstorming session, trying to think of a business idea we can work on together.
Had a terrifying 30 minutes last night, was giving stepson a lift to a friends house & I took a wrong turning. Suddenly found myself in a narrow road full of people & cars, I couldn't find room to turn round (I really need to buy a smaller car, but it's a leftover from having 4 kids) & the road was heaving with people. I saw a woman I used to work with & asked her what was happening, seems one of Readings most popular dealers lives in that road & he had been out of action for a few days. I have to be honest, everyone was very friendly & a couple of guys helped me reverse into a car park & get away, once they realised I wasn't buying. My stepson was by now, curled up on the front seat, crying with laughter.
I'm not doing a proper shop this week, have done a meal list for next week, and all I need is bread, fruit & milk. So most of this weeks H/K will go straight in the bank.
Breakfast was porridge
Lunch HM Soup
Tea Mixed Grill for hubby, & HM soup for me
May the Finance Fairy heap blessings on you all.

Morning all!
Haven't posted for ages as OS style has gone out the window since Christmas. Work has been so busy and I'm away most of the week which means it's hard to keep on top of house jobs.
Anyway, for the first time since Christmas I have a Whole Free Saturday to myself and I am soooooo looking forward to it. I have dusted off the BM which is now churning away nicely and am about to make some leek and potato soup for lunch. OH is going to try and fix the washing machine (lost a bra underwire in it) as I refuse to pay someone to come out and fixt it, particularly for such an embarrassing problem! I've been stockpiling laundry all week so hopefully if he can fix it I'll be having a laundry day later.
Have a good day one and all,

Morning all.
You have my sympathies over the XBox thing, Chardonnay - and I echo everything that's already been said. My favourites would be that the boy is playing sides against the middle - so I'd talk to his Mum about the Xbox360 and if he does indeed get one, make sure that the older Xbox comes back to you so that you can sell it on and recoup some of the money, if not keep it for use there. Good luck with it all, I know it can really drag you down - DH has two kids from his first marriage who live with their Mum, so we've had some of this, too.
I must go and see whether aliens have absconded with my son overnight, because its nearly 9am and he's not appeared yet. Most odd, for a boy who is regularly up at 6am. I admit, I've been enjoying the peace! lol
Its cold enough to freeze a snowman's frosty bits, out there, so I don't think we'll be seeing much of the outside world today. Rented a DVD with one of my Nectar vouchers yesterday, which we're scheduled to watch tonight, so hopefully that'll make today special for everybody.
However, before then I've got some cooking and a whole lot of cleaning to get on with. Think I'll start with the parrot cage .... that'll make the birdies happy, if nothing else.
Today's meals :
Breakfast - porridge
Lunch - poached egg on h/m multigrain toast
Dinner - High Tea. (Ham rolls, pickles, salad, cheesecake).
First, however, I need a cup of tea.)
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:Weight loss since 2 March 10 : 13lbs0 -
