  • Afternoon/Early evening!

2 washloads done and on airer drying. OH has taken the Gerbils into the office as they are keeping DD awake most of the night. DD's room has been de-cluttered of junk and old pens etc. Oh has cleared oot some of his office and has done some more of his OU course. DW empty.

Need to do an inventory of freezer, know roughly but want a more precise one IYKWIM. Seem to have so much food in and its only my 1st week of the MGC, not complaining though:j

OH & DD are going to pick up her bearded dragon this evening from a reputable private seller. Her vivarium has been up and running for 6 days and has maintained a constant temp etc, she bought the worms and the crickets yesterday:eek: they look disgusting. I hate anything like this....gross!!

Have a busy day tomorrow. Hospital 1st thing, then dentist, then back up to hospital. Also, cleaner is here as she cant do friday, so must remember to get OH and DD to strip the beds in the morning.

Having curry, rice, bhajis and popadoms this evening. Curry & rice HM, but other bits I found in the freezer and needed using. OH told his mate he could take a plate of food home with him tonight-why??? Didnt have enough curry etc, so had some mash left from last night, some peas left from last night and have put in 2 chicken spicy burger thingys that none of us like-so in theory not cost us a penny..LOL, and he will be happy. He's a nice guy and do mother him, think he actually must eat with us at least 2-3 times a week and dont spend anymore money-should start charging shouldnt I?? LOL.

Whilst OH & DD are out getting the dragon, I may put on a film-have a scary one that OH dont like and need to return to our free rental dvd hire. So will watch and post back in the morning.

Have done very well on ebay the last 2 weeks, i think about £200-so have moved this to the high interest account. Have some more items to list over the next few days, mainly tops of mine that are no longer any good. Bagged 3 good buys this week. Top for me (M&S casual smart shirt), one for OH (Next BN casual shirt) and 4 tops for DD (cherokee tops) for £9 inc postage for all of them. Might actually list some tonight whilst no one is here, then upload tomorrow.

Anyways, best go as me tummy is rumbling.

    Hugs to everyone.

Try your local animal shelters. They'll often take them for bedding.

If you cut them up to smaller sizes and hem them, they'll fit your WM and TD, so you can offer ready made clean ones.

Drop it round to your local Animal Rescue Centre - RSPCA/PDSA or privately owned ones. Dog Rescue places are particularly keen on Duvets as beds for dogs with corners like skinny abuse cases or greyhounds/whippets etc. They can also be used on horses and donkeys as extra layers when its cold and their normal horse rugs aren't doing the job. :)

MATH - pass on my congrats as well. I would have said earlier, but had to come down off the ceiling :)
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!

Thriftlady, I know this may seem obvious, but have you thought of taking the duvets to be washed at the laundrette? We take our kingsize one there every now and then, and it doesn't cost very much to wash and partly-dry it there;maybe £4? You might be able to get 2 single duvets into one of those machines.

RZL-WELL DONE YOU! It must feel good to have made your target, but to have surpassed it must feel DAMNED BRILLIANT!!!
Achieving the savings target I set myself wasn't that difficult. I didn't cheat - the target was based on my increased budget after I got a pay rise in April and another in June - but all I did was leave my outgoings completely unchanged after the two pay rises, so everything extra went into my savings. That's how I actually achieved the original target. As for the extra - well, £250-ish was interest on this and last years' mini-cash ISA (which I was able to fill up straight away for the current tax year on 6th April in the knowledge that my 0% on purchases Visa card would mean I didn't actually need to "own" that much money at the time ;)). Thanks to MSE I came in hugely under budget on haircuts, optician, and Christmas :T among other things, so I did a big "clear out" of budget pots at the end of 2005. The biggest saving was on personal entertainment - thanks to getting a bit more bold about blagging free opera tickets and programmes for being a critic, plus being prepared to go in standing-room most of the time at the Royal Opera House (who won't give me freebies :() and being quite ruthless with myself about what I actually wanted to spend money on :o I saved about £700 over the course of 2005    :j :j :j

    :D I LOVE MSE :D

I don't think I'll beat my target by so much in 2006 cos I've set my standards higher to begin with - LOL!!!! Need to get rid of lots of clutter this year though, so hopefully will feed my savings with some ebay profit...

My savings are my deposit-on-a-flat fund but I currently only have a bit over £6k (plus £2k in investments which are locked into a company scheme for several years) - based on the costs of studio flats in cheap bits of London, I reckon I need to more than double that before I can think about buying without being really stupidly overstretched on the mortgage. I think if I have another good frugal year and don't walk out of my job in disgust (LOL) I might be able to buy somewhere suitable sometime next year, depending on what the market's doing.

Fruglewump Your house looks great no wonder you're on cloud nine. A pantry is a really good thing to have and the garden looks big enough for a veggie patch too - brill

Kiwi WTG on the paid2clicks congratulations on nearly getting to payout.:j It takes a while but it does happen in the end. I've had three pay outs this year and they have all come at really useful times like the kidz needing new shoes. Lets hope this is the first of many Eh!

Bargain Rzl - you have post;)

    Hi all :hello:

Congratulations and best wishes to Mrs MATH!! :j :j :j

My brain is frazzled! I had a supply teacher cover my class this afternoon. Lovely lady, if a little potty. I made the fatal mistake of asking her how the class were etc. One hour later, once she'd covered her marriage, children, divorce, current partner, parents, teaching, Wales, rugby, Wales and her drinking habits (tee-totaller) she finally left. She honestly didn't draw breath. The lady who cleans the classroom was killing herself laughing and the teachers in the staff room thought it was hilarious. Gail, the cleaner, has promised that if it ever happens again she's going to make a diversion. I am now recuperating whilst watching the Olympics!

I gave my literacy set their practice SATS question back. I had a few people in tears because they hadn't done as well as they'd previously done - ie they'd got complacent and thought that they'd do well if they didn't try. It gave some of them a swift kick up the behind, which they thoroughly needed!

Need to mend the hem on my trousers for work tonight. I've been getting away with wearing trackie bottoms for work for the past few days ("PE" is my excuse ), but I think that tomorrow I'll have to look semi-smart.

Got to go and make supper now. I'm doing a veggie lasagne from a recent Good Food magazine. If it's any good, then it'll be our supper tomorrow night too. :D If it's not, then it'll be feeding the bin.

    Day's food
    Breakfast: branflakes and a cuppa.
    Lunch: fruit, on the run.
    Supper: Veggie lasagne (see above)

    Have a good evening.
