Congrats to Mrs Maths.... hugs to those who are feeling poorly/not sleeping etc.......

Late posting today, OH and I have been to Tesco to do an early months shop, we should have been going next week, but had double points coupons which run out whilst we are in Paris.

Oh boy it was freezing. so glad we have put thermals etc in to take with us for the weekend, I also bought a packet of cup a soup.... we do not ususally use it...... but figured we maight be glad of a hot soup at some point in our wanderings around Paris.

We also went to the library got some paperbacks to take to read in the evening, we are not looking at going too far at night....... will probably have a cooked meal somewhere at lunchtime and get made up baguettes from the Boulangerie to take back to the hotel for tea/supper. I always take a small travel kettle so we have the means of heating water for a hot drink, those little packets of tea bags that come in goodie sets at Christmas come into their own,a packet of 10 should just about last us for the trip. We also take some cereal bars, they help to keep hunger at bay nicely, I make them a bit like flapjack and cut them into fingers, wrapped in either clingfilm or foil they are excellent as a quick energy snack.

Well need to go and have a look at the laundry bin, think I can get away without doing any washing this week, but might have a mountain when we get back.............................

Well I've just got back from braving the damp chill of the London wind to go and get a birthday card for my mum whose birthday is tomorrow - only just remembered  I used to be really good with remembering birthdays but last year I actually forgot my housemate's until a week afterwards so was really in the doghouse!

Also :j :j :j :j finally got an email from HR department about my bonus which goes into my account with this month's (Friday's) pay. All they've said is that it's payable as at the end of 2005 and is a certain percentage of salary. What I don't know is whether it's calculated on salary at year end or average salary over the year. I've worked out that best case scenario I'll get £507 gross, worst case scenario £481. Which I think is really good given that this year it's based entirely on company performance (which has been poor), not individual performance. I'm guessing after tax and NI that'll be £320-£330 (???) which is excellent cos it gives me enough (added to some other recent large underspends and two months' "spare" council tax) to top up my ISA to its limit, budget for a trip I really want to go on in November (yes I know I'm planning early!) and a couple of opera DVDs I really want which are about to be released, and leave £150 or so in my budget that isn't spoken for :j :j :j :j I'm really happy about how well my savings are going since I started serious MSEing - since starting my current job last April I've beaten the savings target I set myself by £1250 including interest! :j :j :j :j Hope all this doesn't sound like I'm flashing the cash by the way, but it's nice to get a bit extra when you work as hard as I do in a job you don't really enjoy :j :j :j :j

Mrs MATH - that's fab news about your interview - fingers crossed and lots of prayers which might work better than the crossed fingers :D

Looking forward to dinner with Dad this evening

  • Well at 1pm today I received the keys to our first house. I spent 2 (freezing) hours this afternoon measuring things, making note of things to fix and reacquainting myself with the sizes - isn't it weird how places can grow in memory.

Damp proof guy coming to give a quote on sunday, gas engineer coming round monday evening to check out the heating (it's been off for 2 months so i want him to check it before i turn it on)

Tomorrow I have to go into work and teach java programming without bouncing around the room.
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!

Congratulations!!!! I remember when we picked up the keys to our first house and went in, my immediate thought was that it had shrunk!!

Bargain Rzl - great news about the bonus :T :T :T ... you've more than deserved it after all the extra unpaid hours you've put in at work so don't feel bad about celebrating it :D

frugglewump - congrats on getting your new house :T :T :T ... hope you don't have too much work to do to it before you can move in!

Well, I haven't really got much done since posting this morning, although I do have another banana & date loaf in the oven, as well as some spuds so I can make potato skins tomorrow, as reading the other thread has made me  too much ;)

Tonight we're having sausages and colcannon, and I've just had a very interesting conversation with eldest DS about sausages! I'd completely forgotten that he'd spent some time as an apprentice butcher (and we're talking a proper butchers here, one who used to go round the farms to pick the animals they wanted and slaughtered them on the premises ;) ) and apparently he used to make the sausages for the shop and has decided that from now on we're going to be making all our own sausages (once I source the equipment etc) and he can even remember how to do the proper links and stuff! :D :j

RZL-WELL DONE YOU! It must feel good to have made your target, but to have surpassed it must feel DAMNED BRILLIANT!!!

FRUGGLEWUMP-YAY!! I know what you mean about "growing in memory", we are moving to our new place soon and I've just been looking back over the details (as you do;) ) and it seems smaller than my memory tells me it is:confused:

Well, I havent done anything today other than some paid to clicks, am very near payout stage now-YAY! DD has been colouring in some paper for me as it is our anniversary today (6 years) and I dont have wrapping paper. Now all dhs bits are in lovingly coloured paper and look lovely. I have been given a scrummy box of thorntons chocs, half eaten already!!!

Our house move has been delayed by a week, lawyers and their bloody paperwork , it is still happening though so I am relieved.

Nothing I fancy doing now, plenty thats needs doind of course! Will browse here for a bit longer me thinks.

good to hear positive news about mrs MATH with job things and frugglewump with your house!
i think i'm getting the cold that appears to be being passed around - not helped by the temperature in my office. i've had to have an electric heater on today beacuse my fingers wouldn't move to type earlier!!!
waiting to see what comes in my veg bag to decide on dinner (and most of the next week!), hope i'm home in time otherwise it'll have to sit in the damp back garden til i get there!

  • :j :j Well done Mrs MATH

Bought my ds1+2 new duvets from Dunelm Mills today.£6.99 each :money:
Rung the dry cleaners to see how much it would cost to get the old ones cleaned - £14.99 each  So going back to Dunelm Mills for 2 more new ones.I like to have spares for the kids in case they're sick on them ;)
Pillows were £7.49 a pair, so I bought them a pair each.Nightmare carrying it all back to the car, luckily Dunelm Mills is right next to the car park in Worcester.

Does anyone have any ideas for using old and maky bedding, rather than binning it?

Off to put spuds in oven for filled jackets tonight(not what I originally planned).
