Morning folks,
Don't think I've posted for a couple of days. Currently got tonsillitis and feeling rough. To top it all my boss hacked me off big style yesterday about a promotion I had not got ... I found out elsewhere, and he hadn't got the guts to tell me .... but hey.
Yesterday, I finally managed to get DH's finances up to date including filing his VAT return. Went through our own personal finances, wowsers it's been an expensive month, what with car tax, car insurance, unexpected car repair and an exceptionally expensive meal out!
Today, WM on, but will not be able to hang outside as we are having 4 massive sycamores cut down and the air is full of sawdust!!
BM on making oat & raisin bread, trying slightly less liquid to see if that will stop the top "collapsing".
Been to Lidl (no purchases) and library for some books to inspire me to decorate DD's room with storage and a theme!PoshPaws wrote:DS has appeared requesting "coffee" - also known as hot milk with half a teaspoon of honey and about three grains of coffee. So I'd better jump to it.
Ah, I know that one well as DD (2yrs4mths) loves a "cup of tea" (milk with tea bag briefly dumped) and boy, you're right, best do as your told
Well, my meal planner went up the swanny today .... toad in the hole .... erm, no sausages! So, that'd be the sausage casserole out of the window next Tuesday also! As I have plenty of other food in, I am not going to go and buy any either.
I find having the rough structure of a meal planner good, as it gives me inspiration, but I also like the flexibility of doing what I like. I did find I was spending too much time trying to work out what to have, rather the amount of time it took to cook!

S - Mince pies
L - Cheese/ham sandwich
D - Spag bol with garlic bread
Ooh, and I think I finally worked out how to add an avator! LOL.GC - March 2024 -0 -
Washing is on the line and curry is in the slow cooker for tea.
DD wants me to bake buns so may do some home made rolls at the same time.
Lovely to see a bit of sun - it makes me feel much better.
Will go out to get "The Sun" later which I never buy but I want the Carry on DVDs they are giving away."This site is addictive!"

Afternoon
Didnt wake up till 9:30! Fell asleep about half past ten last night on the sofa.. mustve needed it!
Got some good-ish news... found out that ive got a job interview on wednesday! :j Not getting my hopes up at all... but its nice to actually get given the chance of an interview! First face-to-face one ive had since i first started applying for new jobs in Oct!!!People keep saying "sure you'll get it.." etc etc which is annoying me.. cos i dont wanna believe i will so im not disappointed if i dont and dont wanna have to say to people "well no actually you were wrong i DIDNT get it..." Although obviously on the day i will walk in with all the confidence in the world
Dishes are washed! :j Living room tidy, dining room tody, kitchen tidy,
Still to do:
- tidy my bedroom + put clothes from floor away instead of on bed which then end up back on floor.
- tidy spare bedrrom - has become dumping ground AGAIN!
- change bedding on both beds
- Possibly organise rubbish for my dad to take the tip tomorrow which is stuff left in house when i moved in... like bits of old boiler, manky sofa cushion + packaging from my new cooker etc - all of which is currently residing in my OUTSIDE toilet (how oldstyle) ! :rotfl: Plus someones stole my wheelie bin 2 weeks agoso cant put rubbish out till i get a new one as bin men wont collect anything not in bins.. and no space in any of the neighbours bins the other day
So dad will have to take my 3 bags of my domestic rubbish to the tip too before they go mingy in the yard!!
- Need to file some papers and sort a few letters
- Need to try and find the motivation to make listings for ebay.. seen as im £55 overdrawn nowand have spent £4.71 on a dress on ebay recently for OH's parents 25th wedding anniversary which is coming up in march. Wanna look EXTRA pretty as OH's ex girlfriend ( who is a thorn in our side as she believes she still owns him after them splitting up over 12 months ago) is gonna be there with her family
- Wanna try make some cakes etc as my sweet tooth is craving cakes and chocolate and i dont wanna go and buy any of them!
Thats quite a list for someone whos seriously lacking motivation! :rotfl: Also have to visit my wicked witch of a nan.... so i dont get written out of the will:rotfl:
Breakfast was - toast with smidgen of peanut butter + 2 kiwis and an apple
Lunch - Possibly ham butties (if the ham is ok - its a week out of date but still sealed.. will do the sniff test when i open it and if it smells ok im eating it!)
Tea - Chicken fajitas as have wraps and some peppers that need using up.
Snacks - Hmm do mint imperials and water count?? (TRYING to not eat snacks as i need to lose a little weight for aforementioned party!!)0 -
Well...........
4 hours ago I had my last cigarette  Which maybe doesn't sound amazing, but considering I'm a hardened 40 a day smoker - I think it's quite impressive. I've decided not to tell anyone this time (well apart from you lot) as I always find it hard when people say "how are you finding it", or "I bet you really fancy one" etc etc I mean you've put it out of your mind for oh 1 minute and then you're thinking about it again :rotfl:
BTW I'm actually quite calm at the mo, and am considering getting my cross stitch out from the depths tonight to keep my hands busy!!!Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Afternoon everyone,
Had a lie in until 7.45 when Dh woke me up. Opened the post this morning to find out that a minor op I have been waiting 12 months for is next thursday. Glad I do not have to get time off work for it.
Dh and myself took DS to take film back to blockbusters, and all of our glass bottles to the bottle bank. DS starts laughing when the bottles break and bang. DH treated us to food in Morrisons, and we then had a nice walk home.
Made some gingerbread men for DS and some Peanut butter cookies for OH. Should keep him going for a day or two. DS does not seem to be himself today, and I am hoping that he is not coming down with something horrid. Off now to sort out stuff for ebay, and tidy up house. By the way, I have heard different people say about a Turbo Lister on Ebay? If anyone has any info about how to use it, please could you let me know.
Thanks

There are quite a few threads scattered about MSE on giving up smoking, and I've linked to one of the longer support threads below. It's always nice to know you're not alone

Hello again, managed to get another load in WM and a couple of loads have dried on the line, now having to move washing about so that it gets the sun otherwise it isn't drying at all. Made another remarkable discovery on the laundry bin front...munch's laundry basket also has a bottom but I'm fairly sure DH's and my darks basket doesn't it seems to have a never ending supply of dirty washing...only problem with all this os laundry washing is that DH has run out of space in his cupboards.
Had a nice relaxing lunch/afternoon so far, been thinking about batch cooking as lots of you mention it and I haven't done any since munch started eating the same food as us, I used to love making loads of batches of different food for her when she was weaning and freezing them all up in little icecubes. Going to go off to find some threads on it shortly. Chilled out this arvo with two of my cooking bibles also known as Nigellas How to eat and Delias Complete cookery course and found a couple of soup recipes that sound very nice. Normally get cook books out on a Sunday so was a real treat, tomorrow will look for lots of meat recipes so that i've got some ideas when i try out the butchers next week.
powie yummy gingerbread men...I think I'll have to find a recipe for them could eat some right now.

Hi Yal, been at my Dad's most of the day helping him tidy up his garden ready foe the spring. He's had a number or major illnesses over the last few years including cancer (which we hope he has beaten) so he can't do as much on his own as he once could. Everywhere looks nice and tidy now anyway.
Mrs MATH has supervised Major MATHLETT on our garden this morning too and that is looking much better also. I noticed all my daffs, snowdrops and grape hyacinths are pushing up so it can only get better for here on in!
Got back an hour ago and everyone is out so I've vacced and done the ironing and now having a little surf. Chilli is in the fridge for tonights dinner although I ate quite a big lunch at Mum's so I'll probably skip.
Stessedoutmum Congratulations on quitting all the best. I gave up ...counting.... erm.... 14 months ago and had smoked 20-30 a day since I was at school. TBH it took a full 12 months before I felt I had it 'cracked' but now I have there ain't no way I'd go back. A lot of websites and giving up smoking books are over optomistic IMO about how long it takes to get over it. My aunt who was a very heavy smoker told me give it a year and that is what kept me going. If I'd believed the books and other ex smokers who liked to crow I would have felt I had failed and would have given up. You do get there in the end so stick with it.
Enjoy the rest of your day Ol'Stylers

stressedoutmum - Good luck and well done on deciding to give up! My OH gave up on wed after being a 10-20 a day for a couple of years.... was going to leave it till his 21st in june but as he hasnt got any money for ciggies at the moment being unemployed he thought this was the best time as he cant be tempted to just give in by popping in the shop for some hes gotta borrow money off someone and me and his mum wont give him any if we think its for ciggies!! :P Mean pair arent we? hehe
Keep up posted on your progress and i hope you manage to give it up! (hug)0 -
Wm on, 2nd load waiting, dried clothes stacked waiting to be ironed, double batch of CQ's cury sauce bubbling away. I have to say the old eyes smarted somewhat, especially after peeling and chopping 2kg of onions :rotfl: The neighbours must love me cos I have no opening windows in my kitchen - I have to use an extractor, so bloke next door is valeting his car to the gentle (!) odour of cooking onions blowing right at him
Just having a cuppa before I go and vac the mattress. It will have to wait to be turned because Mr TM is attacking the garden and there is no way I can manage a superking sized extra thick mattress on my ownThat reminds me - must drag the base valance off too as I noticed something had been split down it.
Went out this morning to collect Mr TM's suit and called in the Co-op for some milk, mushrooms (offer and reduced) and to the butchers for some eggs. Had told Mr TM the stark facts about living beyond our means again this morning (that means him, not me!!) and he gives it the "we'll be alright" comments again  He's refused to let me cancel Sky tv too, because according to him, it's me who watches all the sky channels! Sometimes, but I could live without 'em.
My biggest moneysaving this month is my mobile tho. Cancelled the contract (had gone up to £25 pcm and went onto PAYG - with £1 free credit. In the month I've had it, I've used - precisely 0p
Right - must go and open windows cos the whole house stinks of onions and ginger :silenced: Didn't realise it was so bad until I just popped downstairs and was hit by the smell. Time for my smelly candles too at this rate.0
