  • Bargain Rzl-Do you use starshine dry cleaners? Ive always found them excellent value and are a nice family run business.

    Hi all :hello: :hello: :hello:

MATH - didn't see you there! :rotfl:

Well, we're back from our week up in the Lakes. Mmmmm, wish we were back there, but we've decided that we'll go camping there at Easter with some friends. Could be worse! The cottage was lovely, ideally placed and we ate well (on some nights too well :D). We did loads of walking and I suspect that I haven't lost an ounce. I need to search out a recipe for flapjack as I had little bits as we were walking.

We went into the Lakeland Ltd flagship store twice :j :j :j OH didn't see the attraction, until we had breakfast there this morning and got some birthday presents in their huge "Bargains" area! Not for him, I might add!

OH has decided that he'll join me on a diet. The clothes that I've bought recently have been another size up. OH is needing bigger clothes too - but he's only gone from a small to a medium!!!! As I type, OH is making carrot and corriander soup from a Rosemary Conley recipe!

Anyway, the first load of washing has finished, so I'd better get the next lot in!

    Vicky

  • Congratulations, StressedoutMum! DH gave up five weeks ago today. We keep having "no smoking birthday" parties for him each week. :D
I gave up some eight years ago, after a bout of bronchitis. I suddenly realised just how important being able to breathe is. :rotfl:

Mossy you're not alone in running out of cupboard space - I had to stop ironing DS's t-shirts because they wouldn't all fit in the wardrobe! :D

So what concert you been to, Bargain Rzl? Was it any good?

Welcome back, VickyA - I can't believe how quickly that week went by! Sounds like you had a lovely time. :)

The first pair of DVD's from the 6 wk freebie introductory offer arrived this morning, so we spent this afternoon watching Polar Express and being transported back to Christmas time. :D It was really rather good - and so was the popcorn. Got "Team America" to watch after DS goes to bed, then its pop them both back in the post and wait for the next two to arrive. I wonder if we'll manage to get through our wishlist of 21 before the 6 weeks is up? :)

The lasagne from last night was fabulous. Even better than the first time around, as if that were possible.

I made a h/m jelly by using gelatine, fruit and apple juice. Its all gone, so I think everybody approved. :D I certainly enjoyed it - it was very fresh and not horribly synthetic and sweet like the packet ones. No additives, no colourings, no sweeteners - just good stuff. Yum.

Righto, I'd better go and attack the Lasagne dish with some hot soapy water. I love a challenge. ;)
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:

    Evening all!!!

Late posting today, as have been rather busy!

Have done 1 load of washing (clothes) and then washed my trainers (which were caked with mud from 'eventful' outing to muddy local hills) and now DS2's 2 pairs of trainers are in - they come out like new!!!!

Went out shopping this morning with DH and DS1 & 2 - spent too much money (again!!) Finally got DH to open his Halifax ISA - sometimes I wish I didn't have to organise EVERYTHING!! If I didn't - he would sit around all day doing absolutely nothing, we would be £££££s overdrawn and would live in a filthy house with NO clean clothes!! I'm sure a lot of you know what I mean - sometimes I feel I've got 3 kids!!!

Anyway - with a bit of help from DH, have cleared out our 'lean-to' (which is where we dump all our rubbish!) However, it was "not worth going to the tip, they'll be too much of a queue - I'll go tomorrow!!!!!!" I get so mad with his laziness!!!!

Rant over - have cleaned the bathroom and will do the bedrooms tomorrow. Will catch up on ironing later - not loads, but it creeps up on you, if you don't keep on top of it!

Will bath the kids shortly then hopefully get them into bed - can't wait for DS1 to go back to school on Tuesday!!!!

Hope you all have a great evening!!

    Evenin' All!

Had a good day today. I don't know if it has been an OS day though. Had a 9.30am appointment at podiatrist. I'm only 38 but running has played havoc with my feet. I had about half a ton of hard skin removed. There, you really wanted to know that didn't you? Hee hee.

Then this afternoon I started the damage again doing a trail race (i.e. off road through foot-deep mud). It was great fun but it felt like I had weights round my ankles by the finish, there was so much mud attached to my shoes!

Went to Lidl for the half price fruit and veg. We spent £28, the majority on fruit & veg, but I bought two lovely pasta dishes too, and some coffee. I dread to think how much the bill would have been at Sainsbury's!

Took a couple of bags to the charity shop earlier too.

Having an early night tonight. Breakfast was a toasted teacake. Lunch was pasta and HM spicy tomato sauce. Dinner will be sausages, mash and vegetables. Might treat myself to a glass of wine tonight too.

FF - So glad to hear the baby is fit and well. At 10lb+ his cheeks can only be chubby can't they?!

TM - I remember bringing DS home from hospital. About half way home he sneezed. XOH slammed on the brakes and shouted "He sneezed! What shall I do?" Boy, we had a lot to learn!

    Have a good evening everyone.

Ha ha! That's exactly what I did with mine too! They are currently on the radiator. I'm hoping they will be dry enough to wear again tomorrow. No wonder my feet are bad!

The Lickeys - only 5 minutes from home! It was an eventful trip a couple of weeks ago - DS2 got stuck in mud & fell over - I had to get him out -he had wellies, I didn't!!!:(

Think tank was v. good but I think DS1 would have got more out of it if he was a little bit older - he enjoyed it though!!!

  • I have been a busy bee today (for a change )

Floors washed downstairs, floors hoovered upstairs, windows washed inside throughout the house, bathroom cleaned, laundry caught up on, grocery shopping done, backyard tidied and washed. OH washed the car and assisted with groceries. Tea made tonight, which I have to add was scrummy!!

Now I'm sitting here having a wee glass of cider and chilling out!! *phew*
    :D
  • TM, I got my sky package slashed to 2 mixes and managed to get my charges cut to £7.50 pm, give sky a ring if your OH is insisting on keeping sky in. Personally when the 6 months is up with mine, I going to freeview. The only channel I shall miss on sky is Discovery :)
