Morning everyone!
I can't believe I am out of my pit so early on a Sunday morning. Alright, I know it's technically late in the land of Old Style...but I didn't go to bed until around 3.30 am. Unfortunately I wasn't out painting the town red or attempting to dance until dawn, but rather was having a bit of a "nervy" evening. Maybe I overdid the coffee but I was a bit shaky and feeling down. However I'm feeling much better now, and the bonus is a get to experience a lovely sparkly frosty Sunday morning.
Apprentice Tycoon, I love those kitty cats, they are so beautiful.Bargain_Rzl wrote:
While I remember to ask, SnowyOwl, would you mind posting a proper recipe for the delicious healthy-sounding porridge you always seem to have for your brekkie? Just proportions of ingredients and that sort of thing. It always sounds so yummy
Gosh Bargain Rzl, a proper recipe. To be honest there is no recipe! I got the idea for the breakfast from Carol Voderman (well her detox book...). Jamie Oliver has something similar but he puts naughty things in I think, eg sugar. Anyway, it's more a case of whatever you fancy. I don't cook the porridge, I know it sounds gross but it's fine! So I just chuck about two handfuls of rolled oats into a bowl and then about a handful of oat bran on top. Then it's a case of adding some of whatever I fancy or have in...about enough pumpkin or sunflower seeds (or both) to cover the palm of my hand, about the same amount of raisins, half a dozen almonds or walnuts or broken brazil nuts if I haven't scoffed them already. If I am not in a hurry some chopped up fresh fruit is good as well. If you don't fancy the thought of uncooked porridge you could either let it soak in cold milk overnight to soften it a bit, or just cook it and the oat bran, then add the bits and pieces once done. To moisten the dry mixture I put in a dribble of skimmed milk then a splash of water from the kettle. What a long paragraph for a non-recipe, but I hope you find some inspiration to put together your own version to suit your own tastebuds.
Old Style today will be routine things really....empty DW, do yet another load of washing, a bit of floor cleaning and then make some of Delia's tomato sauce to use up a punnet of tomatoes. I need to go for a walk, I'm a disaster regarding fitness at the moment and I'm getting very fed up with it.
Breakfast ... Shredded Wheat (as have no porridge in)
Lunch ... urm...dunno...probably scrambled egg on toast or equally simple
Dinner ... home made cottage pie, from the freezer - it's ready to pop in the oven. I think I'll make some muffins or a malt loaf to make the most of the oven.
Hope you all have a fabulous Sunday.
Bye!

Been up since around 5.30am. Got two loads of washing done and dried. Got spuds peeled, all ready to go with the fish we are having for lunch. Sausage casserole is set for dinner. Cleaned my oven Kids are still asleep so I'm going to have a hot chocolate and a read of my book. Enjoying the peace. Was going to go to Church but no Sunday School for the boys this week so I'll take them out later on. Was reading Tojo Ralph's poem from his mam, really tugged at my heart strings. Hope everyone is enjoying what's left of their weekend.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

Hello everyone, hope you're all having a good weekend.
Today I shall be washing and ironing, making a big pot of vegetable soup for next week's lunches and cooking a joint of beef in the SC for tonight's dinner. This afternoon I have a mystery shop to do at the cinema, which includes a compulsory purchase of both popcorn and ice cream
Yesterday I went to a charity shop in a different town to my usual route, and got a smart pair of Phase Eight trousers for £1, which I am VERY pleased with - they fit like a dream.0 -
Morning all.
This is actually my second visit this morning - I came through here at about 5.30am, accompanied by a cup of tea, but only had one eye open.
Congratulations on your 3,000th post, Ticklemouse! That's prodigious dedication to the cause.
Bargain Rzl - I agree with you about the Mozart.I used to work at Hampton Court Palace, where they hold a Music Festival each June. The stage was constructed just outside my office window in Base Court - where I had a truly grandstand view of the LPO when they came to play each year. People used to ring up and say "what the heck is going on there?" as they were deafened by the Orchestra rehearsing. :rotfl: Mind you, nobody beat Monserrat Caballe for decibels. You could hear her from the other side of the Palace - which is no mean feat, as its a big place!
I have an opera singing friend called Hannah, who I haven't seen in about eight years after I moved from Surrey to Kent. It'd be too funny if she was the same person you know.
FunkyFairy - what a shame! You'll have to wear one of those nose masks if you do go to see the baby. That'll give baby something to puzzle over!Hope you both feel better soon.
There's little or no activity planned at la casa PoshPaws today. I've just been to investigate Pigsback and joined up, I've got 370 piggie points without hardly trying - so hurrah for me. :T
I'd like to get out into the war zone that is our garden and try to reclaim it from Mother Nature and the dogs - but that all depends on the weather. We might take the dawgies out for a ramble down by the river - but that also depends on the weather!
Right, I'd better go and find some hints and tips for doing a chicken in the SC. I thought I'd have a crack at that today. From reading the posts, it seems as though a lot of chickens are on the menu across the country!
Have a great day, everyone - and PP, hope you feel lots better soon and your flareup flares back down.

Morning All
StressedoutMumof1 Well done your doing well. I gave up nearly 2 years ago when I found out I pregnant with dd. Be careful when you drink that the time I nearly fall off the wagon. DH is making giving up noises at the moment but I know that he has to do it in his own time. The £100 I gave him in cash to buy his months supply at the begining of feb has concentrated his mind I think.
Its just me and DD this morning as DH went out last night and stayed in Bolton with friends. It was quite nice to have a quiet night in on my own but I don't like being in thehouse over night alone. I am please to say that DH managed to fix the wheel back on the buggy so we are mobile again. I was going to use it to walk to church shortly but it looks abit chilly out there so will take the big pushchair instead. Apart from that not much else planned for today. I'm looking forward to watching the next 2 episodes of 24 tonight.

Good morning everyone,
Stressed mum - well done with the ciggies, glad OH has noticed and is giving you some support!!!
A-T - those cats are beautiful, i used to have two black cats, who were lovely and affectionate and i really miss them, but ive promised DS and DD we might get another one after our holiday in June!!!!
PP - hope you feel better later today.
FF - hope you get to see new nephew.
Well, yesterday i did absolutly nothing!!!!! i had a lovely long bath, got back into my pjs and stayed like that all day. We didnt go anywhere and apart from some washing and making HM pizza for dinner, i did nothing!!!! I cant remember last time i had a day like that, mind you ive caught DS's cold, so that was my excuss for my lazyness!!!!
So, after doing nothing yesterday, i have loads to do today, the WM is already on, i have the lamb defrosted ready for our roast lunch, and i really need to dust and hoover upstairs. Once ive had my shower, i think i will knuckle down and get it done, cos i really want to do something with DS and DD this afternoon, judging by the weather, it will prop be some baking as it looks like its going to tip down outside any minute!!!! If it does clear up, we might go for a walk, but im not holding out much hope!!!!
Anyway, hope everyone has a lovely Sunday, take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Oh, and well done TM on your 3000 post!!!!!!!!!0 -
hello everyone
I'm new here, found the site a couple of weeks ago but had trouble registering, all sorted out now, so I can post as well as read
you all sound so great I hope I can add something to this great forum0 -
Morning everyone
Another crisp but sunny day here in the land of the Ticklemeece. It's a good job because I've got all my windows thrown wide open as the house still smells of the base sauce I made yesterday - 2kg of onions boiling for 45 mins can get a wee bit strong :rotfl: - had a lovely turkey bhuna BTW.
Dunno what I'm going to do today. Mr TM has to go out this afternoon so I may take the boys for a walk and I have some old bread I have been saving to feed the ducks. I have lots of washing drying on the airer/rads so will fold that soon and bring it upstairs. In fact, I'm still in my PJ's, so will have a lovely shower soon, while the others are at church. I was just going to type "total peace and quiet here at the moment" - but as my hands hovered over the keyboard, a neighbour started hammering something
B: muesli and tea
L: sandwiches
T: Lamb sausages (local farm), mash and veg, fruit crumble and custard
Oh, just remembered - must make a humungous fruit salad to keep in fridge for those 'peckish' moments
Ok, catch you all later and have a lovely day

Morning!
I actually had a long sleep and have not long woken up which is quite nice! Went to boyf's band practice with him last night which was quite fun, they have a gig lined up in march and they were sounding pretty good. I havent been to one for ages so it was really nice to listen to them again!
Todays plans involve doing a little cooking and a lot of relaxing as well as a few other jobs I have to do - im going to go for a shower shortly as I need to pop to morrisons and get some milk, potaotes and cat food. After that im going to clean the bathroom, do the ironing, sort out the bedroom and then relax for the afternoon. Boyf has another band practice and then work so ill have the afternoon to myself and think il have a nice pampering session - ill do my nails and a face mask etc I think!
Anyway, off for a quick browse then ill get to it!
