  • I certainly wouldn't and have decided to stay with the devil you know; BT.

For all their faults you can, 9 times out of 10, get the right answers from their customer service people and I have found that to be the case today.

I asked at the beginning of the week why, as a loyal, BT customer, I would not be getting the all the benefits they are currently promoting for new Total Broadband customers. It was the usual MSE ploy "why should I stay with your company and what will you give me in return if I decide to stay please?"

They gave me the number of their Customer Options Team and they offered me Option 3 and a "free" Hubphone which I thought was fine but then on Tuesday saw an ad in the press that said it was free to Option 3 users anyway. Straight back to their customer loyalty team and told them that I was not happy and they then offered me a 12 month contract at £21.99 a month.

All done and dusted in the space of probably a half an hour for both calls. Beats waiting ages on the phone to a TalkTalk call centre. Charlie Dunstone (he who cannot even format my surname right) eat your heart out! And well done BT.
  • Hiya, has anyone got an email address I can contact Primus on for the broadband deal? Am currently with Virgin and stay in an area where there is no Cable and Talk Talk charge you for their broadband service so looks like Primus may be best. Would prefer free/cheap wireless package with a sign up but not many do that with reasonable prices and good service! I dont download that much stuff.

They emailed back within a day with details of package I was interested in or this is the contact page. Customer service with Primus are very helpful.

  • Well. Here in Japan I have a supposed 100MB fibreoptic connection. Its real speed is around 13-17MB - bit of a difference, eh? Even so, it's about GBP18 a month, with no lengthy contract terms.

A bit different to AOL in UK - when I left I got an 'email only' account at GBP2.95 a month. Just recently I got my card statement; the !!!!!!!s have billed me for GBP17 odd for 'internet activity' - huh??

So now they are trying to charge me 1p per minute to read aol mail .......the SWINES! Needless to say I gave them the old heave-ho.
  • Want to sign up with TalkTalk but need a BT line first. Anyone know how long after getting BT line you can switch onto TalkTalk?

    Thanks

See this thread. 12 months for a new line, 3 months for a re-connection.

Followed by 18 months of pulling your hair out and getting annoyed with yourself wondering why you ignored all the advice to avoid TalkTalk.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

    Why Eclipse Broadband:

    Hi Everyone!

there are cheaper broadband out there HOWEVER i have been very impressed with Eclipse for the following reasons:

I must stress I am talking about Eclipse's Evolution Broadband Packages

    1. £14.99 gives me 8mb Unlimited (6mb actual due to my line and unlimited out of peak hours, with a 20gb limit in peak hours 6pm-midnight, but i personally can not download 20gb of stuff in 6 hours lol)

    2. Very very impressive customer services, my account was set up within 5 working days and when you call them the wait is never more that 5 mins

    3. Amazing online control centre, tells you all about the status of the ISP, your account details, any open issues, issues that have been solved. An example is as follows:
    Outage Ticket: 2982 CLOSED
    Outage Date: 02 Nov 2006 at 20:43:21
    Closed Date: 07 Nov 2006 at 15:17:12 • Duration of 114 hours 33 minutes.
    Affecting: Other Services, see details.
    Description: ADSL Platform
    Details: 02 Nov 2006 at 20:43:55
Engineers are currently investigating reports of slow ADSL performance across our ADSL platform.
Outcome: ADSL platform performance is now normal, Engineers will continue to monitor.
    4. They are giving away free wireless router at the moment!

    Negatives:

*I have found the network to go slower at the peak time 6pm-midnight however we are still talking well above 1mb so for normal browsing not an issue.

    Highly Recommended! :)
