I see know one has mentioned that if you don't live within sight of an exchange, you won't get 8mb and if you live over 5km from an exchange (not very far by the way) then the most you can get is 512k.

I live in an area that cannot get the 8mb. At the moment I have the basic BT phone package £11.00 but I need internet access. I'm not sure whether to go dial-up or broadband. I don't use the internet a great deal, don't really download, it's mostly e-mailing and reading web pages. My main factor is cost. Am I best to get a seperate internet package and given I can't get talk talk for £20 (mine would be £29.99) is this a good deal?

  • HI,
I am/was a V21 customer too, and when I ring up Primus to enquire about the 1MB unlimit with free phone package, I was told that it will cost £17.99 per month with £3 rebate every month, so drop down to £14.99 and not the £12.99 as mention in the thread, also, there is NO 3 months extra free either at the end of contract! Are they changing their prices?
    thanks
  • Cannot find a reference to it in the Forums.
Sky contacted me (I have had a dish for over 4 years) telling me I was now in their Broadband area and could have broadband for Free (Apart from a £40 set up fee)
At the moment I pay to Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange or whatever they are called this month £14.99 a month
Is Sky's FREE as good as it seems ?????????
  • Same question as Gingertom, anyone wanna let us know if its worth jumping in?

If you pay your SKY subscription and are happy with the service, why not give it a try ?? After all, they have huge resources and their name to protect, so no doubt it wwill be fine. No adverse reports anywhere, in the press or on these threads. I can't get it in my area yet and am tied in for 1 year, but will definitely give it a go next year. What can you lose - £40 !!! By the way, if you have to change your email address, I still have Googlemail invites available, just send me a PM wwith your current email address. Then if you ever change ISP providers, you never have to change your email address.

At my computer club this week 2 members had been told up to 3 months to get connected. It seems like TalkTalk all over again.

Looking at their performance on the adsl guide they don't appear to perform as well as other ISPs I looked at.
