No Bt line - so no access to all these cheap providers unless I change - as bundle of TV, telephone and broadband with NTL - its too much hassle.

However - i also have Virgin mobile - so i'm a pretty good customer - which I pointed out to NTL customer service - they offered me the same special deal as new customers are currently getting - TV, telephone and broadband for £40. When I first joined them two years ago customer service was pretty dire - but has improved dramatically - is it the Virgin effect? But broadband service has always been top notch and very reliable.

You should in fact be getting a mobile contract with Virgin as well for £40 a month, I would go back to them and renegotiate :)

Which credit has to be spent with Primus, 3 monthly or at end of the year, and how?
From personal experience, the 3-monthly credit of £15 is deducted from your account, but as the annual "bonus" of 3-months credit is apparently given in one lump, you would use this against future monthly services. So, £53.94 credit equates to 3 months at £17.98, so all you would pay would be any call charges. Maybe for the first 2 months call charges would also come out of this credit, but am not sure. That's how I read it anyway.

For anyone who can't get TalkTalk deal without paying the additional £10 a month for the service, it's worth considering Tiscali as they are planning on abolishing line rental costs in Jan 2007. Unlimited UK calls plus Unlimited Broadband will be just £19.99 a month! Even now, it's just £30.98 a month which is cheaper than TalkTalk for those who can't get it at standard rates!:money:

Fine, except Tiscali are the most quoted company on here who people say you should not go any where near. Their Customer Service is Second to Last!! Bt line with Primus BB equals £21 per month, with free evening and week-end calls.

  • Hi, I've just seen an offer for Pipex 8mb broadband through phones 4u for £29.99 incl £6.50 8mb broadband - 2gb monthly download limit (it does'nt say this in the flyer - found out on their website) unlimited free landline calls and line rental.
I don't download video or music just general web browsing so I guess 2gb limit no problems. Currently I have been with Talktalk for the past 19months which is 1mb (unlimited download) + free evening and weekend calls. I can't get their free broadband offer in my area.
Pipex appears to offer a good alternative any comments and advice would be greatly appreciated.

How can moving from 1Mb unlimited to upto 8Mb with a 2Gb cap be a good alternative? 2Gb is a very small amount of data even on slow dial-up, so on a fast connection it would be easy to exceed. I would find out how much bandwidth you actually use before switching. see here.

  • Sorry never done this before but feel I got a great b/band deal.
I recently bought a 'clearance deal' orange mobile from carphone warehouse. Costs £30 per month with 200 anytime minutes and 75 texts
Clearance deal gives you £320 cashback over the year plus you qualify for free Broadband with Orange, therefore the whole deal costs £40 for the year. The only inconvenience is you have to claim the cashback but seemed:j worth the hassle for me.
Hope this is of some use

me too, you only need a 12 month contract for the free broadband..even though their literature says otherwise!!
  • Hiya Claire and Darren, I just checked out carphonewarehouse.co.uk but couldn't see any mention of qualifying for Orange's free broadband. I may be being a thicket, but could either of you tell a little more about how you got that offer?

    Cheers!
  • Aha, I see it here http://freebb.orange.co.uk/offerinfo/

    Unlimited & wireless broadband for only £5 a month...brilliant!
