Pipex have just taken over Homecall.I would suggest researching the history of Customer service first.

I'm on an Orange £30 mobile phone tariff and am considering the "free broadband"
I'm currently with BT 2meg b/band but have been offered their 8meg service which, according to my exchange, will give me real speed of approx 6.5 meg.
However, when i put in my landline number on Orange's site to find out what spped I could get,it said "speeds of UP to 2 Meg"
Any ideas why there is such a discrepancy?
    Thanks in advance

Daughters moved in a student house and the guy there has arranged for ntl broadband to be connected sometime this week. He has said its going to be £17.99 a month but thats full price surely they should have got a better offere than that and it will be fixed for 12 months wont it? For a start its saying £8.99 for the first 3 months on the site then £17.99 after

I was wondering if they could ring back up and say they were reconsidering instalation because they are not happy with that price of £17.99 and quote anyone elses price that may be cheaper to see if they will match it.

They do not have a telephone and just want the broadband

Who could they quote ascheaper to see if they will match?
    Thanx

£17.99 is not cheap these days. Tiscali and Plusnet are two ISPs that offer prices around £14.99. also if you look at the performance of NTL on adslguide.org.uk you will see that they are not rated highly for customer service.

I would contact NTL and tell them you have changed your mind.

Hes already signed the agreement for instal on Monday. I'm trying to find out if he can cancel as its within 7 days. If they offered him a better deal it would be ok, I'm on NTL myself and pay £9.99. I just think they took advantage as the lad is young and didn't try to negociate anything. If they actually turn up to instal before its sorted though I'm not sure where they will stand. The lad should have made sure everyone was happy with the deal before agreeing to that

I think you will find NTL will be available today so you might be able to sort it before they turn up.

Did the person signing up have permission from the others to sign up on their behave?

I think I would be tempted to delay any installation until it is sorted. You are in a weak position once its done.
