As far as DV goes, this isn't extreme at all. In fact I would go so far as too say that this is probably one of the most common sorts of DV. If it is a troll, then no harm done but if this is real and we ridicule, mock or ignore then the harm could be irrepairable. I will reserve judgement at this time.

I'm feeling rather cynical myself, but if not, my only thought is would the OP be happy with the £500,000 given that she would be living with a nob-end in order to spend it? Personally I'd let him have the £500,000 with pleasure and tell him to sling his hook. And I'd possibly shove the £500,000 up his arris as he was leaving. It'll be the best £500,000 she's ever missed out on!

DV is a terrible thing, but TBH I can't understand why anyone would continue to live with someone who had poured boiling water over their face.

I agree totally - like I said earlier, sometimes things that seem entirely bizarre, extreme or alien to most of us really do happen to people.

Plus, if someone else reads the boards who is in dire straits and is thinking of posting for advice, I would hope they wouldn't be put off for fear of having the mickey taken etc.
