Hi, can anyone help?
I'm in the process of leaving Virgin, BT line becomes active on 21/01:T , can i order through Quidco now to get O2 broadband or do i have to wait until my BT line is active? Would like the switch over down time to be as short as possible.Lou :beer:0 -
I signed up to O2 mobile broadband last March - at the time the only thing they could offer me was the aircard - i see O2 now have the mobile broadband dongles on payg so i checked my coverage status and its telling me not to get mobile broadband - and yet i already have it all be its incredibly slow and once i've received 3mb i have to disconnect and reconnect - will it work still if i get a mobile broadband dongle on paygA home is not a home ..... without a dog0

@Karen A - If you enter your exchange code into www.samknows.com you will see what dates the exchange LLU enabling for each compnay will take place. I am trying to find out more about why it takes so long and why they have been constantly put back, like in many other thread posters case.
With McAFee I feel it is a bloated product so unless you have a newer computer, I think it can really affect its performance. I think an older computer would have trouble with McAfee, so depending if that is your situation, bear that in mind. If so stick a free alternative on instead.
@beachbeth - that email is set in stone, but it is possible to create more email address and use them as your primary one, even though officially it is your secondary one, if that makes sense
@mess0804 - you caqn pay for a static IP - £4.99 a month for all products except the Pro one, where you get a static IP for free0 -
@mroller - us calling you back wont invalidate your claim (I think) as you are on our database, as the order must have went through, just a problem, perphaps tags on the line (common) is stopping us from progressing.
@janeyjaz - Be*'s top price product is very similar to ours (we own them) take the Pro package as you get a static IP address, for free which Be* also do you will get a higher upload speed (up to 2.5mb), which for gaming is benefical, and as high a download speed as your line can handle (based upon external factors, distance from exchange, line quality) whatever speed you can get from Be* you can get from O2 on the top packages and vise versa. With the Pro you get a N router, which means you can transmit data internally - faster - you will need to have a N card, if you dont, the wireless will still work anyway. You can connect 4 devices via ethernet and in theory 250 devices wirelessly (just dont expect a good spped - with 254 devices being used)
@greenlou - you need to wait 24-48 hours from your number to be active, as this allow the number to trickle down to Broadband Providers databases. From that point it will be 6-10 days.
@dawnie1972 - sorry, I have no idea with regard to mobile broadband, both the aircard and usb dongle are essential both the same product, why does it not allow more than 3MB?
@diamonds - yes, unfortunately you do need to enter this, i wondered this aswell, along with why each O2 email needs a mobile number attached to it. Im unfortunately a minion and I cant dictate otherwise.
@payless - glad all is going well - you speed will fluctuate for 14 days so just keep the router on, as your speed could increase further0 -
eco21, what should be our highest expectation for a sweetener to stay when talking to the retention team about getting a MAC/giving notice?0

anybody know how i can change my IP address? I didn't subcribe to any static IP address, but seems unplug modem for half an hour doesn't change IP at all.0

@gp2.....good question..I came across the same one elsewhere just yesterday...
The answer seems to be that, although O2 IPs are dynamic...they are very, very sticky. The answer seems to be that the IP may be allocated to the Mac of the connecting device (modem/router), using a different connecting device gets a new IP assigned to it, so you can have as many 'dynamic' addresses as modems...not a cheap solution, i know.
It is possible to change the mac of the modem, but not advisable unless you own the device with the new mac, and it isn't connected.Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0
