Not really as his phone and all 15 of the business phones are on o2 and have at least a year to run.

I'm more interested in why they say they cant give it him rather then trying to get round the problem but thanks for your help.

i have a laptop that isn't wireless ut don't want a wireless usb dongle i would prefer to buy a laptop card. Which ones are compatible with the o2 box?

i use a belkin 802.11g F5D7010uk works very well
i have also tried a linksys one although newer than the belkin it did not perform as good as the belkin:D

Im looking at changing from my increasingly slower BT broadband connection, to a ridiculously cheaper package from o2. In essence, is there any real difference between the premium deal and the pro deal other than faster upload and static ip? is it really worth the extra £7/8 pounds a month? I know you get the "n" modem, but all my wireless appliances are only "g" rated anyway.

Secondly, the o2 site says I'd expect to get a 13mb connection. how accurate can I expect this to be?

thirdly, do o2 reduce by bandwidth at peak times? (as bt seem to do from late afternoon to midnight by almost a factor of 10!)

fourthly, how difficult is it to get the mac from BT and are they likely to offer me a cheaper deal that what I'm on? And how much notice do I need to give bt to cancel (been a broadband customer for years)

fifthly, will the bt connection end the same time the o2 connection starts?


Finally, has anyone connected to o2 found connections slowing down after the 30 day money back "try it out" period? or has it been reliable and steady?

Dan,

If you go via Quidco you get £75 cash back which is good.

If you an O2 mobile customer i think you get a further £3 off per month on your broadband.

I find the CS of O2 so much more better. I also get a faster connection of 8MB compared to 4MB that i used to get. I am not sure about the 13MB unless you are very very close to the Telephone Exchange.

Bandwidth at peak depends on how many people use O2 or BT on your exchange at the same time...so again you might find this if a lot of people have O2 in the area.

As for the migration mine was simple....the router was sent to me, i was told the date the migration would happen....the old service died on the date stated and i plugged the O2 router in and away i went.

All good so far.

IIRC yes - to be sure check the t&c's on the bt website

I hope you can advise me. I've just joined 02 broadband and have set up the Thompson box. I am on the basic subscription. However I wanted to set up my own router, a belkin n, as I need to use my mobile to connect to the internet from time to time from home. I had my own password for my old connection. However due to the automatic set-up of the 02 box, and not being a techie, I have no idea where my orignial network has gone or how to connect my belkin router to it. Any ideas?

Hi there,

I just cancelled my 02 broadband and they have asked for the router to be returned within 30 days or i get charged £50.

i've still got the router but dont have the cd, do you think this will be a problem?
