  • My current broadband contract expires in about 2-months time and i'm thinking of migrating to o2 home broadband.

At present i'm using a plugin Thompson Speedtouch USB modem to connect to the internet. I realise this is old hat & most people are now wireless but it works & i'm happy with it.

My question is can I still have this setup if I migrate to o2 or will I have to go down the wireless route ? Anybody have experience of this ?

    Thanks in advance.

Been with O2 for a few weeks now. Got the Premium package with 3 months free & £70 quidco. Just had an email offering to downgrade to their Standard package due to not being able to meet the speed they thought they could on my line.
If I did this, does anyone know if they would then charge for the 1st 3 months as the Standard package wasn't included in that offer when I joined?

    chuffed with o2 home broadband.

Has come online in line with what o2 suggested - good start.

Took me 20 mins to get working - really couldn't have been easier - insert CD and press ok half a dozen times!

Speed seems okay. I'm on the basic upto 8 MB package which Igot as a free add-on to my mobile phone - what do the figures below suggest anyone?

I've been happy with O2. Not sure why they sent me the email about downgrading my package as I think that's a pretty good speed for peaktime.

can someone tell me what it means, perhaps, using currency that I understand - eg in MB?

I have a BT landline and have been using O2 BB for a couple of weeks. It seemed simple to install. Unfortunately, I hadn't spotted that there was no dialing tone on the phone, as I rarely use it.

The set up is..... the phone line comes in at the front of the house and runs to a socket in the hallway. Because there is no power socket in the hall, a phone extension lead runs from this to the lounge where there is a double phone socket.

The filter has been put into the phone socket in the lounge and both router and phone plugged into it. This set up gives me broadband with no problem.

Having read the instruction that 'everything that is plugged into the landline must have a filter' I plugged the second filter into the phone socket in the hall way and plugged the phone extension lead into it.

With two filters I got dialing tone on the phone, (Hurrah!), but unfortunately no broadband. Took the filter out of the hall phone socket and plugged the phone extension back in and BB returns but no dialing tone. OK, so now I know how to make a call or check my emails, but it would be great (and presumably the point of the filter) to get both together.

I have just moved in and one day will have a power socket in the hall, but how can I solve this with the set up I have?

Words of one syllable please, as I don't really understand how all of this works.

    Thanks..................
  • I have a so-called dynamic IP with O2, but it never seems to change (from past experience of other ISPs, a restart of the router is all that's needed). Is there any way to force an IP change.

And out of interest, if a dynamic IP with O2 never changes, why would you pay £5 extra a month to get a static one?!
  • ^change router.
    the IP is "sticky"

  • Hi, I'm planning to migrate to O2. I have a flatmate who has a few months left on her O2 contract, and she isn't sure will she continue with the contract.

I wonder can I use her O2 number for the discount at the moment, and if she decides to cancel, put my other friend's O2 number (with their consent of course!) to get the 5 pound discount?
