  • Hi there
Can you advise me, I am looking to get a new broadband connection in my home. I need wireless, for a laptop and PS3, however my PC is in the bedroom, and my landline is in the Sitting Room..... can you advise if O2 broadband would cover this and if so, how does my PC connect to the wireless? - my PC just about 3 years old.

    Many thanks

Yes you can set this up.

All computers in the house can be wireless.

You will just need a wireless dongle for your pc.

eco21, what should be our highest expectation for a sweetener to stay when talking to the retention team about getting a MAC/giving notice?

No reply from eco21, but my own atempt to get their "best deal" to stay rather than give notice has been a useful 2 months free.

As I haven't understood a word from this, sp I think I will just drop it... (and I really wanted a new IP - just for a game, but it seems too complicated....
I have received the modem from O2 pluged it and installed the stuff from the CD on the PC ... that's all my knowledge. (I thought if I take my friends modem, identical O2 modem and plug eveything at my place, maybe install the cd again i will have a new IP... but you lost me at the point where you said about retriving data from the old modem...

Think you can have a new IP try this if you choose static. I don't use the CD just a waist of time did my manual!.
  • ^ unless I'm missing something...that method may grab a new IP from the router's DHCP pool, in the range used by the router, usually 192.xxx.xxx.xxx (though 10.xxx.xxx.xxx is not unknown). I can see no reason why this would alter the IP used by the router on the internet, and issued by the ISP, so it's a complete waste of time
    :(

  • Thanks Quentin - does the dongle come with the wireless router?

No. You need to buy one separately - less than a tenner!

    Hi,
I'm with O2 and overall I'm happy however I'm on the c£17 package and apparently I'm supposed to get 8m download...realistically it's more like 3. I was just wondering when the exchange will be unbundled in Ipswich so I can move to a faster and cheaper package.
    Thanks

If your not getting the download that you should be getting, then phone O2 and explain this and downgrade your package. I did this and they credited my account with the difference between the two packages because I never got anywhere near the advertised speed.

You cannot downgrade from the "standard adsl" access package.

Your downgrade must have been between the o2 broadband (llu) packages.
