I was starting with page load problems so no point in trying a pretty speedtest...just a functional one. I also use KIS which has been known to mess the results from that site (it's shown me 14k+ on an ipstream connection
)

would you recommend joining o2 at this time then, i would only be able to get the o2 access for £17 on max 8mb speeds.
im asking as my contract with bt is about to expire so i want to change but if its not worth it i will just stay for now. i have good speeds wth bt as i live fairly close to the exchange. speed test shows 6.3.
what do you suggest.
i would have liked to join BE but for some reason i cant get them in my area, but i can get o2.0 -
I signed up and was told my line could handle 13meg, I didn't expect 13meg but I actually only got 5meg,
Did you sign up for the standard or premium package?
If it was the premium one, then they would have downgraded you if 5 was the max (and refunded the difference), but if you were on standard, then 5 sounds ok.0 -
O2 access is currently...er...broken!
...but there are apparently changes/improvements afoot, so maybe by the end of the month, middle of next the service may be good.
Daytime speeds are great...just peak turns to treacle, I turned off my PC immediately after that speedtest because my connection was no longer fit for the purpose I wanted.
O2 LLU is a different beast, and seemingly still pretty good, with improvements due.
...and the CS is unbelievably good!Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -

I signed up for the premium to get as close to the 13 meg as I could, but wasn't willing to drop from 20meg to 5. As I said, I didn't expect 13 meg, but there's a huge difference between 5 and 13. If I'd have signed up for the standard I'd have expected the full 8 meg, given the o2's site stating my line could handle.Sigless0 -
Doubt anyone ever gets the full 8 on 8 meg!
Wasn't the 5 as good or better than your previous ISP?0 -

Also if O2 enable your exchange with LLU you will be able to switch to that immediately (i.e. don't have to spend 12 months on access)
are there plans for unbundling check on http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php0 -
which package are you on with BT?

i am on option 3 with bt, have been with them for years, cant really fault them always been stable with no poor speeds for me at peak times, although lately i have been noticing it abit more.
i had already checked samknows and heres the thing i dont get... since last year when i first checked the site it states that LLU for o2 and BE is enabled at my exchange. at that time o2 were still saying i could only have the 8mb option but with the LLU connection not access. and i could also go to BE and they would also quote me on their value package (i think it is called) on 8mb. if i do it now, BE says their broadband is not available in my exchange and they have no plans or details of when it will be enabled.
my thought was that when bt roll out their new network and upgrade their internet speeds that i would be able to get the faster connections from other isp's. bt is due to roll out its faster broadband on 30th of march in my area. and my contract is also up this month, so i will wait and see what happens.
but i have heard a lot of bad reports on o2 at the moment.0 -
the bad O2 reports are generally about the Access product, not the LLU oneUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0
