Thanks for that Morn, if that is the case, I will be looking for an account that uses Maestro, once HSBC issue me with a Visa Card then.

Nationwide's Visa debit card doesn't make any charges for purchase of foreign currency or using your card abroad.

I have found Visa to be more convinient.

    Car repairs + service = £350.

I couldn't pay with my Maestro, so had to go cashpoint, get £200 out from that. Then go and get multiple cashback from Asda for the rest.

Then had to walk back to the garage to pay with that in cash.
  • Just received a new Maestro Debit card from HSBC expired date in 2010.
    Hi John
I lost my maestro last weekend and on Saturday called to cancel/order a new one. They said will be a visa. They said would take3-5 working days and its the 5th working day now... my post has come and no card. Can you tell me how yours was sent out- was it by courier or through post? Im a bit of a prisoner in my own home at the moment waiting for it to arrive.

    many thanks!

I have a Nationwide Debit Card as well.

Do you have a link, I cannot find anything on NW's site relating to currency purchase, other than buying it from them, which is never the best option.

I am talking buying from a company other than NW.

Kwik Fit it seems. Robbing *******s

My card is both Solo and Maestro, so when I put card in chip and pin I choose which one I want (it says Press 1 for Mastro or 2 for Solo), I always choose Maestro just in case. He said hm its not going through, oh wait, you h ave a Mastro, we dont take them. Fs.

I thought that you were more savvy than to use a place like Kwik Fit, Lokolo, they are the joke of the Motor Trade.;)

Its only because my car was dying and I was at uni so my usual garage was 120 miles away, which is usually ok. I just went to the first place I could to get it sorted.
