    Richard9991, thanks for this.

I assume i will have a credit check (credit scoring) as part of the process to determine whether I will be accepted? What are the procedures for doing this? Passport as ID and bank statements showing my current address and salary credits? Is your card a cheque guarantee one or is that normally reserved for people with decent credit history etc?

Can I have an overdraft in addition to having a current account or will it depend on the credit scoring. Does the computer comes up after credit checks saying i am entitled to overdraft up to £250 and so on?? Did yours say anything like this during the credit checks?

Thanks Richard9991 for that. I have applied for a current account at the branch this morning and was instantly approved using Experian CRA as Primary search. I was offered up to £250 free overdraft....up to Platinum level. The Branch Manager have said that my credit file at Experian is fine and said my internal score at Lloyds is now a 4...on a scale of 1 (best) to 10 (awful) despite the fact i have just opened an account with them today!
The only draw back is if i opt for the silver, gold or platinum debit card, then I will have to pay a monthly fee (£7.50, £12 and £17) but first three months a discount. I can always have a classic account but I would like travel/phone insurance included with the account.

As i am currently on HSBC Plus (£12.95), if I select platinum, this would have the same cover as I have at HSBC plus for family cover and worldwide travel insurance. I am a father of 2, and up to 7-10 times a year travel outside UK. I do realise it will cost an extra £4 but i will ALSO have phone insurance included, which actually save me money had I got a phone insurance elsewhere, naming Carphonewarehouse.

Is it worthwhile having a Lloyds Tsb platinum debit card with the free overdraft included (£250) and additional benefits on top that is more useful for me than a HSBC Plus debit card even if it cost me an addtional £4 (£17 monthly fee) or am I being a bit naive??

Lol. It is only a card mate. If you are so upset, then maybe you ought to have the HSBC plus card. I think it is one of the best looking cards out there at the moment. I don't know whether this card is the design for the current advance HSBC holders or for the current account/basic account.
