    To the op -

I know this is a bit o/t but to be honest you would have been disapointed even if you had got your slow cooker. By the time you got home, gave it a clean out, read the instructions, etc, and then peeled and chopped your ingredients and put it on....... you would have been having your dinner at about 1am lol.

Slow cookers really are slow, though I love them!!

    No.
    Do you want any battery's.....
    No.
    That's £4.99....
Collection point B, 5 minute wait...

    Next Please.....

WOW, very rewarding and anyone who say's they enjoy doing this for x amount of hours a day need their bumps feeling.

Now you say that but when you actually sit back and think about it a hell of a lot of jobs are repetitive.

They have a bit of a bonus in some respects as there dealing with different people all the time.

Personally I think the doors should shut 5 mins before closing so they can deal with what customers they have left in the store.

What someone does for a living is a matter for them in my view. I take the view that it is massively insulting to criticise anyone who works for a living.

Why not post details of your job and we'll tell you if we find it boring.

We have to shut the doors at least 5 minutes beforehand because otherwise we have people in until well past closing time - the other week a guy came in at 5:50pm on a Saturday and stood at the browsers until 6:10pm, so we had to spend a further 10 minutes getting this guy's items (6:20pm), then taking the last till off before shutting, then locking all the fire exits etc. - I didn't get out of the store until 6:30pm! Certain tasks have to be done before can staff leave and are only paid up until 15 minutes after the store is closed, so we have to ensure we close in good time because staff have lives, homes and families to go home to on New Year's Eve as well.

And to be quite honest it's not just Argos who shut their doors early, all retailers and all staff have to do it because they have lives too, we're not here 24/7 to serve the general public!

When I was in retail....shop opened at 9.00 am....closed at 5.30pm...if someone came in at 5.29...they still had to be served...then as another poster said...(think it was a bank worker) they had to cash up and balance as well...so to be honest with staff attitude like yours...and how Argos staff are perceived by the public....plus the fact that Tesco do catalogue shopping....it won't be too long 'til you have your P45 as well....

Oh ha ha ha, i'm laughing deep down.

Come and work for Argos and do a full day of none stop serving, THEN you can come to me and say comments like this, and see how you like it when you're there well beyond well closing time unpaid.

Until that time happens darcyvuqua keep your nice comments to yourself.

Lovely person...and you're supposed to be one of the ones with brains and an education...you must tell us what your qualification/course is...hope you're not studying Law or Medicine....you'll notice a difference in work practice then...

your attitude is surprising as well as your posts on the argos forum are quite good and helpful, and it strikes me you must have given freely of your own time to create them (unpaid no doubt) which makes your stance a bit contradictory? at the end of the day you're an employee, you should be adhering to the company's policy, I'm sure there's quite a few Woolworths employees who would love to be in your shoes AND happy to work after their normal closing time....but then again you're a student...and it is probably only beer money to you....and from your tone, you'll soon be moving on to better things....remind me again what you're going to do when you leave higher education?

In retrospect the "Oh ha ha" bit was not called for. I'm not waiting to dash out the door at the end of my shift, and our doors stay open until the duty manager decides to stop entry. If you have a genuine problem with that then you need to take it up with the individual store, rather than using brute force on the contributing employees on this board.

What peeves me off is when posters start the posts with titles like "Argos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", or "Argos - sack the lot of them!" when all we do is comply with company policy within the boundaries of our job. I have no problem with waiting a few extra minutes, but we have to ask where is the limit to it?

As far as going what is "beyond being paid for"/"beyond the job description", then yes please feel free to venture on to the Argos Board of this forum, where you will see I, along with other posters in this thread, regularly contribute and help consumers online before making what could be an unnecessary journey to a store, or an unnecessary call to the customer service line etc. I have delivered stock transfers between stores for other customers unpaid, I have delivered an item to a customer's house unpaid, because she left it behind by mistake. So if this is not going beyond the call of good customer service then I don't know what is.

I am polite to all my customers, I try to keep waiting times down (though not always successfully) and I always aim to do the best to all who enter the store.

As for the Woolworths employees I genuinely feel sorry for them because the way they were informed about the closure and the amount of redundancies in one go was awful.

Now before any more hurtful, snobbish or hateful comments are posted, from either side, I suggest we lay this thread to rest.

Nice response djb215....shows that you do have some sense, I though that some of your stuff was a bit "tongue in cheek" especially after I read your useful postings on the Argos threads...well done matey...and good luck in your Uni studies.
