Come and work for Argos and do a full day of none stop serving, THEN you can come to me and say comments like this, and see how you like it when you're there well beyond well closing time unpaid.
.
Oh no - you might have to work an extra 10 mins after working an 8 hour day, how terrible. That might mean in a week you work almost an extra 50mins....
You should maybe try my job (f you had the brains for it) where despite my contract saying I work a 42 hour week I never work less than 55 hours.0 -

Keep your petty and arrogant comments to yourself please.
Not that it's any of your business but I am working at Argos to keep myself financed through university.
Like Colliefrog I enjoy my job at Argos and despite the feeling as generated by this thread, we always aim to give the best to our customers, and if you have a complaint please feel free to write to Argos head office,

What a judgmental and irrelevant statement!!
Again I work part-time at Argos to finance my studies, but think it is pathetic to insult people for choosing to do a job which makes them happy and pay the bills.
Not everybody wants a 'career' so they can brag about their brains and money...some things are more important in life.:A0 -
I work for Argos, therefore I must have no brains? And what do you do that Argos staff don't have enough brains for? You don't know me or my fellow collegues and have no right to say we don't have the brains to do what you do.
Maybe you should give Argos a go... I am contracted to work 18.5 hours a week, but have worked 62 hours this last week and I will be getting paid for all of it, unlike yourself!0 -
GOING OFF-TOPIC
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: While it’s easy to wander off-topic that often prevents newbies finding the information they want quickly and easily (please see this rule). Please keep this thread on topic. If you’d like to discuss non-MoneySaving related topics please continue your discussion in The MoneySavers Arms or Discussion Time. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
Also - please be nice to all moneysavers, this isn't the place to be making judgements about individual peoples career choices or working life.0 -
I used to quite like Argos but after a run of items which arrived damaged (it got so bad I had to unpack everything in the car because getting it home to find it broken was annoying and necessitated a return journey to the shop) I stopped using them. Will occasionally buy something unbreakable like kids' character duvet covers.0

Agree totally. Not the first and surely won't be the last from this poster.0 -

You enjoy it so much that you can't wait to get out at the end of the day (even a couple of minutes makes a difference) and love helping customers so much that you close early?and if you have a complaint please feel free to write to Argos head office,

If you'd supply me with your name and the branch you work for I'd be happy to pass on my comments on how you reflect upon their company.Colliefrog wrote: »I work for Argos, therefore I must have no brains?
Nope - but not realising that sometimes you have to go above and beyond what you're contracted/paid to do means that certain people on this thread are lacking in the brain department.Colliefrog wrote: »Maybe you should give Argos a go... Well done, I actually only worked about 15-16 hours last week and I bet I still got paid more than you in the end
I put the extra time in because I actually enjoy my work (most of the time), know that it doesn't go unnoticed and will hopefully further my career so those extra 13+ hours that I do isn't wasted in any shape at all to me even if I'm not financially rewarded. That's the sad thing in todays society, people seem to be out for what they can get and if they aren't being financially rewarded then they won't do it (i.e. work an extra 10 mins) and that's part of the reason the country is going down the pan - people like you djb215 who won't do anything that's not directly in your best interests.Agree totally. Not the first and surely won't be the last from this poster.
and the same from you - being judgemental again, hypocrisy is surely far worse than being judgemental?0 -
How can anyone enjoy working in Argos?
Where is the job satisfaction?
Next Please.....

That's £4.99....
Collection point B, 5 minute wait...
Next Please.....
WOW, very rewarding and anyone who say's they enjoy doing this for x amount of hours a day need their bumps feeling.0 -
For me, the job satisfaction largely comes from working with a great team of staff, going out of my way to make somebody happy (like today with an elderly couple who were unable to collect an item from another store for a replacement so I spent 30 minutes arranging a solution for them - which resulted in them being very grateful) and going home at the end of the day knowing that I've earned some money and can afford petrol.
Personally I think that's enough. Any job can be made to sound unrewarding but the actual job description and tasks which you complete are largely immaterial.:A0
