Aww poor kitty - I haven't read your thread about her properly, but if she has a snotty nose then she prob wont want to eat as cats senses of smell/taste are very closely linked - super smelly bland foods like fish will help (when she's allowed to eat again)

Did the vet say she was overweight at 4.7kg? Is that why you have been trying to cut her down?
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

My ball of fluff is at the vets right now getting her lady bits pulled out, I was just wondering what kind of things I should do for her coming home.
Just leave her alone to sleep it all off? Do they use stitches or glue? The vets was busy so didn't have long!
Also they said my cat is overweight, I don't really believe that because she only weighs 7lbs! She's of slight build though, just long and slender, she has a hernia or something on her stomach from the placenta, but it's not dangerous or anything, I just thought that made her belly a bit saggy?

Anyways, I feed my cat crap, I know that! I tried that Appleaws (sp) from P@H but she wouldn't eat it, felix or whiskas is all she likes, I only give her 1 - 1 1/2 pouches a day and normally left biscuits out all day for her to graze upon, she isn't greedy! The Vet reccomeded I feed her Hills Science for indoor and neutered cats, which I ordered a bag of for £10.47 at the Vets, I pick it up tomorrow as they were all out.
Is that a good price? It's a 2kg bag, can I expect that to last long?
I used too feed her whiskas/gocat/asda tiger biscuits, just because it was easy and convienient to buy :o Price isn't the issue, it's my lazyness.

    Sorry for all that waffle!

Stitches and not glue :) Weight on cats is a funny thing... if you saw my 2 you'd think the boy was a right fatty at nearly twice the size of his sister... and he does have a tendency to gain weight but at the moment he's a very good weight. The best way to tell isn't to look under their bellies as some have more tendency to have a "hangy bit" than others... but to keep an eye on how much meat and fat there is on her ribs, back and hips.
Food... Hills should be fine - haven't personally used it but apparently it's fine. I feed mine on Arden Grange - same as I feed my dog but the cat version and they seem very happy with it. To the point where when I accidently ran out they turned their noses up at Whiskas and Tesco's premium :)
Mine only get pouches as a special treat - sometimes they get sardines in tomato or tinned tuna in water :) And the vets always comment on how fantastic their fur and teeth are :)

How old is she? Is she having the hernia repaired today as well?

They usually use sutures, and should give you some post op instructions. She may also need a 'bucket collar' to stop her getting at the stitches, which can usually come out in about 7-10days.

Make sure she has somewhere warm and quiet to sleep it off, and don't give her too much to eat when she comes home - little and often is best. Also make sure that she stays indoors until her stitches are out.

Hugs to your lil lady :)
I can't think of anything interesting to write here.........

She's just over 1, and no she dosen't need the hernia repaired, it dosen't have a hole in it, it's basically just a fat squishy lump thing! Leftover from the placenta apparently.
The vet had a good feel, and said she could take it out but it's just for cosmetic reasons, so I just left it! I was also a bit wary about doing that because then it would of been her getting neutered from the middle of her belly instead of the side and my nana (who is cat bonkers) said only 1 of her cats ever got done like that and they messed it up somehow so the cat can't jump right......or maybe her cat is just too fat :D

I would like to not feed her the pouches, but she sits and crys for wet meat, and starts rolling around showing me her empty belly. So cute. I occasionaly give her tuna, but not much and not often, and she is partial to a bit of smoked salmon!

Well she's home now, and confused! Poor thing is trying to rub her chin on every door she sees but the cone is getting in her way! Bless her.

I have to take her back in 10days to get her stitches out, do they make you pay again for that? Or is the £60 I paid today all inclusive off aftercare?!

We just had our rats done and we paid £45 each one and this included the follow up appointment. Did you ask when you booked it? It usually includes the follow up but if she needs any other medicines you'll have to pay for that.

Should all be inclusive - but £60? OMG how cheap is that! Ah just noticed you're in scotland... down here I'd expect to pay no less than £100 (and in some cases up to £200...) for a spay... don't know how that compares up your end :)
I found my girly hated the collar but after a few licks didn't bother with her stiches anyway... Same with the dog... couple of licks once or twice a day to keep it clean and that was it... maybe they realised that if they picked at them the collar would be brought out again? ;)

I paid £60 for my queen to be done (£30 each for the Toms). My vet used glue and she didn't have a cone collar. She was fine when she got home, her usual playful self, but the toms weren't impressed with her smelling different. She didn't lick too much where they cut her but she hated the bald patch and licked around there alot.
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!
