£100?! My cat was speyed about a month ago and my local vet charges £29, including collar and removal of stitches!

Buttonmoons, in a couple of days you can try removing the collar while she's on your knee and watching she doesn't pull at the stitches... My Sassi tried to pull them out on her first day but after a couple of days I was removing the collar in the evenings and putting it back on for bed, then one morning it was off and she didn't bother with them at all so I just left her...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

  • £60 for a cat spay sounds about right to me. usually inclusive of a post operative check and suture removal(if required). but not if anything goes wrong... fibgers crossed it doesnt!!
so keep well rested, i usually advise to keep in one room, rather than the run of the whole house and away from stairs, light meal tonight-chicken/fish. and lot of tlc.

The only thing I was worried about was my 2yr old thinking she could still play with her the same, but thankfully she is scared of the cat ATM because she is a ghost apparently (with the cone).

We don't have stairs and just have a small flat, she's tucked up on my bed, leaving her hairs everywhere as per usual, and I just gave her some flaked haddock for tea. Appetite seems okay!

    Thanks for the advice everyone!

My vet told me to try and keep the cats seperate too just incase Tabby tried to groom her... But he didn't do that, just cuddled her like usual...

I hope they don't try the collar on Chaya my dog when she's spayed, i'll have to remove it it'd drive me & her bonkers! My cats never have them & they don't pick, well one did but she didn't get them out. If they give a collar i'll ask for the other type it looks more comfortable!

when we had one of our cats speyed our vet suggested we cut the toe off a sock and pulled that over her belly. she didnt have to wear the collar and was more bothered about trying to groom the sock than get it off!
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire

oo that's a good idea! I could put a PINK bandage round her (MrsTine will love that idea!) my cats have never needed anything they don't bother but i'm not sure how the dog will be, she'll be the first i'll have had done. I hope they don't send her home until she can walk as there's no way I can carry her from the taxi to home!

glad your furbaby is home and well.

a bag of Hills should last your cat for about a month - if you follow the feeding guidelines. this equates to about 36p a day per cat.

my boy-cats are overweight and both need to lose half a kilo. they get roughly 60 grams of Hills diet (light) a day, each. It doesn't look much but it does fill them up...they often leave some so i just use that towards next days rations.
  • Ok, this is an odd one, but I didn't know where else to ask other than the vets...!

I have two 18mth male cats (brothers), both neutered at 6mths.

However, over the past few months of one of them has started getting an erect penis on a daily basis, he plays with it and strokes it (!!!).

He doesn't seem to do it when my boyfriend is around, only when I'm with him. For example, tonight I was in the bath, turned round and he was sat on the floor with it our and rubbing it - eek!

He doesn't stop when you tell him to, but isn't nasty about it.

I should mention, he is a fairly big cat and very dominent. He loves his ladies and is very protective of me, he's pretty much in charge of everything. His brother doesn't show any of this behaviour.

We moved house a few months ago - he used to hang around with female cats there, could he have been "doing" things with them and now he has no one in the new house to do it with???!

Can anyone help us? It gets a bit uncomfortable when he's doing it next to me in the bath!
  • pmsl im sorry to be of no help but that really has made me smile- i hope someone here can help!
