Tiger it's possible that Chaya was simply stressed in kennels and hasn't put as much weight on as she should as a result. Kira was very kennel stressed when she was in rescue and lost a lot of weight there - and being the RSPCA I'm fairly sure they don't starve the dogs on purpose ;) She ate fine there but she still lost weight. Soon stopped when she came home and got plenty of walks and had a chance to settle in :)

  • Not a cat, but a dog. My castrated Lab cross used to "visibly fall in love " with the vet's nurse, but never at home or anywhere else.

I didn't think it was possible as he only has half his tackle, but I've seen the evidence   :D.

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.
  • She may just naturally be a lean dog, but she does sound a bit skinny - I think she will plump up a bit now she is home!

Try giving her some oily fish occasionally and with her dinner and perhaps increasing her portion sizes of dry food a little (I alter how much my dog gets depending on how fat or thin she looks on ay given day - anywhere between 70g and 100g twice a day) - tripe is also supposed to be good for putting weight on dogs, but I only ever give my dog the dried tripe sticks as treats, which stink, but which she really loves, and they are natural and nutritious so I do relent and let her have them occasionally!
  • Hopefully he will grow out of it, I'm guessing since we moved away from his females, he has no female apart from me around now...??!

    Oh my!!! lol!
  • I'm really sorry, no advice but that is too funny:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • No HelzBelz - it isn't funny, not when your cat regards you as the object of his affections and tries to climb on you and hump your arm at every opportunity. He loves it - purrs like anything - I'm really not so keen, especially when we have visitors.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to suffer in this way though. I mentioned this behaviour to my vet and he said that it may be that he'd missed an undescended testicle during castration (ouch!). He offered hormone treatment but I decided that throwing cushions at the cat (Mr P's job) was cheaper.

  • He hasn't humped anything yet, he seems to be quite happy doing this himself...! I hope he doesn't start doing that as well! We're off to the vets early next week, so I might ask them about it.
  • Our Dennis (small dog), has been castrated but what is left still seems to work. I often find when I am stroking his back he rolls over and puts his 'thing' in my hand to be stroked  . It's even more embarrasing when he does the same to my Mum !! Shameless !

Cheapest place I've seen it is at VetUK - £20 for 4kg bag

Not many places stock Hill's Indoor Feline so you might also want to look at Royal Canin Indoor which usually works out slightly cheaper than Hill's but just as good, if not better, nutritionally.

Zooplus stocks a huge range and usually offers 10% discount for new customers ;)

IMHO Royal Canin Feline is the BEST food you can feed your cat.

My cat Ted was very fussy (VERY FUSSY), loved Royal Canin, would tolerate Hills, wouldn't eat anything of the cheaper ones:rolleyes:

    Its all I feed.
