Cat getting neutered

Salmon?? Sardines??
Bear in mind they might not want to eat the first evening, so its useful to have some tasty bits in to tempt them as soon as they are ready.
So glad you are getting them neutered, its always a good idea.0 -
I just got my cat (1yr old) done a few weeks back, she was very dis-orientated when she got back, and very sleepy, and was for a few days. I left the cone on her head as she kept biting the stitches, must of been itchy! Her stitches are out and she's all healed up!
I gave mine some grilled fresh haddock after her op, says something light, spoiled :P0 -

Now I'm wondering what I can do to make my little babies feel better after this. What treats or new beding I could buy/make to help ease the situation for them.
My two kittens are both female and sisters from the same litter and are 5 months old now. I love them to pieces and I really dont want to put them through this but I know its for their own welfare that its done.
Any advice is welcome for my two beautiful kitties..
A cute pic from a few months ago. Missi is the tabby and Suki is the black and white.
Oh they are just gorgeous!!!! My kitten is called Missy too
Mine are about the sdame age as yours and I'm going to get them neutered very soon. What's the voucher you mentioned?

Mine just sat on top of the TV glaring at me. Didn't want to know me for 24 hours.
Soon calmed down and became affectionate again.A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -
i was really wooried about my babies, going, one a boy and one a girl,
angel(the girl) was fine, took it in her stride,
teddybear titch( my boy) was very upset as his back legs were wet and he had been violated, but he is a very delicate little thing(not) and is def one who has flu when its just a cold type, when he had thrown up a hairball he was all shaky, and wanted cuddles,
anyway back on subject, quiet and warm, no leaping up and down wardobes etc, most seem to deal with it very well,
my last cat, who i miss soooooooo much( had to be pts when she was 8, blood clot, never got over losing her) she pinged her stitches, and when i took them out purred cos she liked it( vet knew i would do it, no relys to that please)
i also gave them tasty fish when they came home,
hope all goes well,
well done for getting the ops done, we rescue cats and its awful the amount of unwanteds etc,THANKS to everyone who posts competitions. you are all :A.0 -
Got some tinned sardines (in spring water) and some salmon in the freezer that I can grill for them. I will probably end up buying some chicken for them as they are very partial to that.
Suki is very lovable and loves to bury into your clothes to be warm and close to you, Missi loves cuddles but likes to be on your shoulder. I dont think either would be good for them after the operation.
Do you think they will mess with each others stictches? They groom each other a lot.
Will they need to be supervised overnight?
I guess I am just worried about them, its upsetting me that they will be in pain and not their usual boistrous selves. I know its for the best I keep telling myself so but I cant help the worry.
Someone posted a while ago saying that cats protection league were doing free neutering in my area. check your local one to see if its running, if not they do it quite often.

We're having our 5 month old female done on Thursday, But I think the vet is going to do it from the side instead of down her tummyand probably with disolveable stitches.
I shall be keeping her out of the way of the other 2 neutered cats for a few days as they are not getting on, another scrap last night...oh the joys of being cat parents0 -
When I've had cats spayed I just leave them to their own devices for a day or two after, obviously checking them to make sure they're OK and not pulling the stitches out or anything like that. The worst I've done is get a brother and sister neutered at the same time - the male was fine by the time I got him home that night, but his sister was really quiet for a couple of days. Her brother kept wanting her to play and kept jumping on her. He was a little horror - he always wanted other cats to play with him0

My 2 little girls (6 months) had their operations yesterday.
And apart from one being a little scared and didn't want to get out the cat box for a few minutes when she got home. They are running around like nothing has happened(beating each other up lol) . They were very hungry when they arrived home and if i had known they had to have something light , i would of prepared it in advance instead of them having too wait for 35 minutes.
They do tend to wash their stitches but have been very good with them so far.0 -
I've never had a problem when I've had girlie kittys spayed, the last one acted completely normal! My current kitty is due on 20th Jan, going to get her chipped at the same time, then out once recovered
My only problem is keeping her seperate from the pup until she's recovered enough to go charging around again!0
