Just phoned the vets, Suki is most likely in heat, They will still neuter her but its going to cost an extra £10. I dont mind this cost since the neutering is free through cats protection.

I just feel sorry for the little kitten.
  • So its the eve of the kitties operations!! I dont think they will be happy but it for the best.

    Will keep you all posted!!
  • Please do. My kitty is due in on the 20th!

I bought some chicken liver for my puppy, and discovered that my kitty quite likes it too. Do you think it'd be ok for her to have a little bit of liver to start eating with again when she comes home or should I stick to chicken meat itself? She won't eat wet food or fish (I know, odd cat!) so am looking to give her something easily digestible which is tempting for her.
  • You know I never thought of feeding them liver, but I think it would be good, its light, smooth texture and shouldn't upset their stomachs. I have chicken, salmon and sardines in for them. But my two eat anything they can get hold of so I dont see a problem. I am going to ask the vet when I drop them off in the morning which one to feed.

They have had their final meal (at 2145) and are now sleeping it off ( I think I overcompensated on their usual feed). They are going to be sooo unhappy tomorrow as there is no dry fod to munch overnight and no breakfast either. I think the yowling is going to be quite bad. Poor little babbies.

they will be fine & v likely eat their normal food. They are kittens after all & bounce back straightaway.
  • Just be abit careful with giving liver, Too much liver can provide excessive amounts of vitamin A and this can result in stiffness and neck pain.
either give very small amount and not too reguarly or stick with chicken or turkey
  • white fish or chicken, would be my suggestion. Basically, something bland in case the anaesthetic upsets their digestive system.
  • Well its all over and the kitties are home with me. They apparently were both in heat in the end. The vet was surprised and said they were very young for this at 5 months.

They are currently delighting in tormenting me by not following the vets advice. I was told to try and keep them calm and stop them jumping, My kittens are back to their boistrous selves and show no sign of what they went through apart froma shaved area on their side.

The vet also said that they wouldnt want to eat and to only feed them small amounts of food they provided (hills prescription food). First thing out of the cat crate they went running to the food bowls looking longingly at me. I fed them as the vet said around 30g of wet food each. They have never eaten so fast and were chewing the sides of the bowl in haste to eat the food. They then wailed for more. I fed them again 30g around 3 hours later.

Am I doing right by feeding them this way? They wont be fed again now until morning. I'm owrried they might need more, but I dont want to undermine the operation they have just had.

I have two female cats, the first is neutered the second is not.

The second cat started Spraying up all the walls and furnicher about 12 months ago, we would have got her done but she suffered a really bad accident when she was younger and how only has 2 legs, doesn't go outside and we struggle to keep weight on her which is why the vet wouldn't operate on her.

This is this this spraying is getting seriously out of control, the whole house smells of wee and it doens't matter how many times i go around with a black light and clean it all up, as soon as we let her back into the rooms she feels the need to go and mark her territory again.

she's 10years old now and this has only been going on for the last 12 months, i don't know it it's to do with the fact that she gained alittle weight and her body now thinks it's cabable of having a litter, or if something external is upsetting her, could she be going thought the change??.. i know human woman can get hormonal when thier body's start winding down after thier "re-productive years" but at 10 is this the right time??

the second cat has also started weeing, though with her it is just weeing (i get the feeling she figures because the other ones spraying she doens't need to use the litter box anymore) *sigh*

We want to buy a new couch but im terrified of both cats weeing all over it.

My husband is getting very fed up with it... im getting fed up.

    Any idea's ??
  • what are u cleaning it up with as some cleaners can make them want to spray
