sorry
just serious about people breeding animals for the sake of it:rolleyes: makes me angryTHANKS to everyone who posts competitions. you are all :A.0 -
None of this surprises me. I have found that the majority of the public has extremely little medical knowledge of their own bodies so I would imagine they have even less about the bodies of their pets.
I don't think my vet realises I am a midwife but he always gives very good very clear explanations of all surgery or medication he uses. He's not the cheapest vet in the area but I think you get what you pay for . I've heard some pretty bad things about the 'cheap' vets. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't explain things clearly. One of neighbours was told to take her dog home and weigh her and then work out the dosage of the medication based on the dogs weight!! Luckily they came across the road to ask me or the dog would have got the wrong dosage !
I think it's terrible that animals are seen as 'an investment' but then I've never been very buisness minded . maybe that amazes some of the people who haven't a clue about medical stuff ! We can't all be experts at everything.

oystercatcher,
you are right, alot of people do have little medical knowledge of their own bodies, and alot probably dont even realise that they shold get animals neutered etc, so they dont have babies.
a vet i had in the past was very good, he would explain everything,
we cant be experts at everything, but should try to learn the common sense regarding the pet we want to buy, so we can look after it best we can.THANKS to everyone who posts competitions. you are all :A.0 -

Best thing is... I stopped taking it personally when they did the exact same trick with the other vet in the town! This is known as "fee avoidance" by the professional insurers. Despite having "won", it was somewhat of an empty victory, as the debt remains on my books. The client has moved away from the recorded address and seemingly beyond traceable reach. I wrote it off and moved on and that is why I can be moderately open about it now. I did actually get some benefit from it, in that I have since personally used the legal firm which represented me.Garantissez-moi de mes amis, je saurai me defendre de mes ennemis0 -

Thats shocking!
It was once said to me that the most important piece of equipment you possess is the scales. I am slightly obsessive about weights of animals and we try and record the weight at each visit. This has been highlighted in a recent report by the University of Liverpool, who have analysed a lot of practice data and found a startling lack of weight recording.
I'm fairly sure that if a problem arose regarding the dose of that medicine, it would be the vet that would be found to be in breach of regulations and not the owner for failing to work it out. I'm almost physically spitting over such a tale.Garantissez-moi de mes amis, je saurai me defendre de mes ennemis0 -
Now i'm worried because i'm concerned about my cats weight, not sure how it relates to human loss but I think she's lost quite abit & the Vet said if in March she's lost more he'll check her Tyroid. Seeing as I have to take her tomorrow for her eye issue I thought i'd get her weighed again, see if she's lost any more since Nov 21st. I hope the scales are right!0

I think leaving her till March to see if she's lost more weight might be a tad long... but then again my local vets (whom are not personal friends of mine) have a set of scales out in the waiting area that they openly invite people to "drop by" and use. Ideally you should let the receptionist know the weight of your pet but you don't have toDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Yeah i'm definitely gonna have the other vet tomorrow check her & if she's lost any i'll maybe go back after xmas to see. I don't even know what her ideal weight is! The RSPCA website is like 4.3kg but it's kinda hard to work out
She was 3.87 I think, 3.8 something on 21st, 4.1 1/2 in March & 4.7 or 4.8 whenever I took her before that, probably a year before. Fingers crossed she & I will feel better tomorrow & they can somehow hurry up & clear the gunk! Just thought, maybe she's scratching in the tray cause she might be wary of going out if she can't see thru the gunk?0 -
thanks for the wonderful very touching posts.0
