Bloods, weighing, filling in 50,000 pages of forms in your maternity folder :)

It probably won't last the full hour but mine certainly took about 30-40 mins :)

nessquic - yes, it's the paperwork for the maternity folder! I swear I didn't think we'd ever finish all the questions!

  • Hi,

I have a question , but a bit of background first.

DD1 is 8 DS1 is 6 and DD2 is 4. In all the pregnancies I have had "morning sickness" (although just now it is limited to just am - lucky me!) When I was pg with ds1, dd1 used to think it was hilarious when I was having an episode... but it didn't worry her. The same thing applied when I was expecting dd2. I can't remember when we actually told them but I am pretty sure I was past 16 weeks and they could see!

Now it doesn't help that I am not a morning person, this morning I was doing my best to avoid being sick (to no avail) and dd1 came into the bathroom and was hovering around looking a bit worried... did my best to reassure her I was ok and to help dd2 with her boots (we were running late )

There are a couple of things that worry me, the first is that she may talk about this at school with her group of friends and one of they may point out why I am ill in the mornings :rotfl: The second is that I wanted to wait to tell them for a few different reasons, but dd1 does worry and I don't want her to be worried for no reason iykwim? It is still really early to tell them.

Sorry that sounds so daft, but before they were all too young to really grasp the situation. It was more of a there is something in mummies tummy, " can I have some more juice please?" :rotfl: So when did you tell any older children that you have?

Little Pickle you sound a lot happier tbh when 8months gone with dd2 I do seem to remember locking dh out when I received an out of charachter reply to a polite text asking when he might be home :o turned out it wasn't him that sent it :o Luckily he did manage to catch the taxi that dropped him off and camped at his brothers that night...

(hugs) caz, sorry I can't offer any more than that.

    Hi,

So when did you tell any older children that you have?

    tia

With no 3 we told nos 1 & 2 (then 5.5 and almost 8) by taking them to the 20 week scan - no 2 then blew my cover at school by lifting up my tshirt and giving the baby a kiss ( I was 23 weeks by then - just after long summer hols) - I'd mamnaged to keep it a secret quite nicely!

With no 4 we told them about a month ago - so at about 18.5 weeks or so - when they were 11, 8.5 and almost 3. I was planning on leaving it a couple of weeks, but we had a couple of things coming up where I needed to tell other people (eg re food people were doing over Xmas) and I didn't want anyone else telling them!

Although both times I had/ have a bump if you know what you're looking for I was/ am still in normal clothes most of the time (although longer tops are necessary!) - I've not put on any weight (in fact lost both times). No 3 was in summer 2005, so I got away with some floaty tops and peasant skirts and this time managed with layers!

Oh - and I got (am still, cos still being once or twice a day :() VERY good at being sick silently! :rotfl: :rotfl:

You deserve a medal - that is a real skill!!!

Ok, I guess I just need to either get up before them and get it out of the way :rotfl: or learn your method!

Thanks for the reassurance that it is ok to tell them later :D as long as I don't give the game away before  dh is so helpful i.e. waits until he absolutely has to leave so that he can deal with the rushing bit (because that is what makes it worse) it all just went pear shaped this morning. The look on her face, bless.

Hopefully I am worrying over nothing - wouldn't be the first time!
  • ARRGGHHH!!!!!! GORGEOUS!!!! :D
