You can get them for free :money: I have tonnes of mates ones from family planing they said "we'll give you some while you wait for your IUS" (this was after I had chris) they gave me about 30 to last about 3 weeks :rotfl: I didn't use any of them
I'm glad to read about the condoms from family planning.....How long do you think they would supply me with freebies, I don't really want to go back on the pill after having this baby.
Firstly because I haven't decided how close I want the gap to be for number 4. after which dh may get the snip or I may get sterilised or both!!!!!
Secondly The pill was suddenly not agreeing with me and I changed to about 3/4 different ones before I decided to come off them and have this baby.
So anyway my plan was use condoms...as much as I don't really like them! But I really don't want to have to buy them.

oh Cheeky - you could always do the sling thing we've been talking about earlier today - no need for a pram then! otherwise do you have anywhere to store pram? my sister lives in a 1st floor "apartment" and they have a storage building that is meant for bikes but could equally use it to store a pram as its a proper building with a locked door.
I don't know ur local market but round here our 3 bed terrace cost about 40k less than a 2bed app when we got it 3yrs ago0 -
Ladybird - that's something I totally get....about the mortgage etc.
My main reasoning for not wanting to go back to work before little one(s) start school is because of child care. Neither of us have family in this area and I have a thing about day nurseries. I'm not judging anyone who uses them - but I worked in a couple whilst I was a student and hated the way kids were treated like robots and not allowed to show their creativity. I'd look at a childminder (my mum did that for a while when I was younger) if I had to go back to work after mat.leave but think that would cost almost what I'd be earning!! Kinda defeats the purpose!! Also - I wanna be the one with my kids all day.
Sami - at the min houses cost about the same as this place did when we bought it - but when we got this place, ave 3bed terrace was about £195K+ (£250+ in a nice area!!) and no....we're not in London. We do have a garage, so that's a possibility, even though it's not damp now, i'd be worried about it being damp!!!! Lol.
[edit] I've always liked the idea of a baby sling/carrier thing though, so that would be a defo consideration. Just that both hubby and I like walking, so some sorta thing on wheels would be good0 -

Edit: Remember contraception is free on the nhs for everyone in england0 -
round here you get a sort of "membership card" for fam plan - its just a bit of card board with ur name and a ref number on it but you can just walk into any of the fam plan clinics and ask for a bag of condoms when u flash the card, here you can choose from durex or mates and they give you them in a bag like a 10p mix :rotfl: I think they gave me 2 bags of 16 in each, they'll supply them for as long as you like :T

Thanks Sami - I think that is the best option for me then...not sure what dh thinks yet:rotfl:

I opted for IUS even though i knew it wouldn't be in there long (if I got it removed when I first went it would have been 11mths) condoms would have been the easy option as I too don't seem to suit the pill but we can't be trusted with condomsthat's how Chris came to be

Now then, I asked a question about a pram and people said that you can't keep a baby under 6 weeks in a car seat (one that bends the babies back) so do we need a lie flat pram for a few weeks. That seems a bit of spending just to keep them in for a few weeks / months and then buy another one for after that time limit.
Also can anyone recommend a book for me and the wife as we have got no idea of what to do when they are born and what different stages they go through. (eg. how many nappies do they use in a day?)
They don't have to lie horozontal! Most prams that are aged birth to 3/4years dont lie flat, but they are flat enough. Car seats though are a differnt story. There is nothing wrong with getting one of the travel systems with car seat and pram (that also sits up to be used as a buggy) if you take baby out the car seat when in town etc.
With both my kids I got prams that didn't lie exactly horozontal because they do right up to 4 years. I usually ended up buying a pushchair at about 18month-2years for taking into town though.
Like you, I will not spend over £150 on a pram. Infact its a twister XRS (or somthing) this one here that we got for DS2 last year that we will be using for this bubs and one of the group 0 and 1 car seats that stay in the car to save money. You put it in rear facing till about 9months, then turn it around and it will do till about 4 years. Baby is a bit more comfortable in them too, they are not as curved. Like this argos one
Nappies, it depends on the baby, propably about 6 per day if you change at ever feed for the first few weeks. Books, no idea, never used them, developed a hatred of them after DS2 was born, he has mild CP and development delay and reading about how they should be doing this that and the next at each age just made me angry. Trust your own instinct.0 -
I don't mean to gatecrash then ask a million questions...but do you guys think it's worth taking pre-pregnancy supplement thingies and how long for before hoping for conception?? It's supposed to be 3months or something isn't it??0
