you can put your claim in now to try to get ahead of the rush :T

Scarlsborough: thanks for that number! I was just complaining on the HiPG thread that we should be able to get hold of the form ourselves instead of trying to track down a MW who has one!
I just tried to call it and the line was dead
    I'll try again after 9am.

    Morning all..

I'm trying to get up and do stuff today to prevent the sickness taking hold :(

Caz, have you tried Radox Sleep Easy bubble bath? It always works for me - sometimes while I'm still in the bath! :)

    Hi all,
I know this has probably been asked loads before but this thread is so long I'd be here til tomorrow trying to find what I'm looking for!

When do you get your MATB1 form? And is that when you have to tell work when you intend to start your leave? I have a 20 week scan on 12th Feb, then an appointment with my MW 4 weeks after that. It's so long ago when I did this before I've forgotten most of it! I was hoping to work up till 2 or 3 weeks before the due date so I'll have longer after. I work in the womens/delivery/maternity part of the hospital so should anything happen early I'd be in the right place!

You have to tell them by the end of your 25th week of pregnancy, and from what I've heard you prob get the MatB1 at your 24wk app. Don't leave without it, particularly if your midwife is only around once a week cos then you'll be right up to the deadline :)

I work in a HR Dept but because we employ mostly blokes I know more about paternity leave that maternity leave! I've got a meeting with my colleague who deals with all the maternity stuff next Tuesay afternoon when she's going to give me a list of dates and all the "you have to do this by then" info.

Do you have a HR Dept who will do you personalised info too? I'm sure I've seen a website that does it too.. hold on, will go look..

Here you don't get the MatB1 form till later - I'm 22 weeks tomorrow and no form yet - I think I have to ask for it at my 25th week with my doctor...

Oh, hold on (told you I didn't understand it!), on further reading, you have to tell your employer you're pregnant before the end of the 25th week, but you can discuss maternity leave after that, I think - you just have to give them 28 days notice of leaving..

See: "How and when to claim" - http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Expectingorbringingupchildren/DG_10018741
  • Thanks elle

I read that as, so long as i have the matb1 when i give my 28 days notice then thats enough time.

I saw MW for my 20wk last monday and next is feb 16th so i will be 27 weeks then.
