3, I completely understand IMHO bubs should have your surname if your not married as it is much easier to later give bubs his name if you get married but not very easy if it has his name and you want to change it later.
Do you think you will/want to get married?
I gave Chris OH's surname as I "knew" we would get married, but if I was the teeniest but unsure he would have been given my surname and hen changed it when/if got married HTH x

PS. you could always use OH's surname as a middle name

    Thanks Sami, Starbump and MrsTine,

Ex has very little to do with the children, phone call every six months if he can be bothered  - so i don't think they should have his name.

My name isn't important to me - its my dads name and he and mum divorced when I was a baby, so i don't know him.

OH name is important to him - all that male carrying on the family name stuff!!

And marriage - i don't know! We do intend to be together forever, and have a great relationship (5 years now and we still like each other :p ) but marriage is a bit of an issue.

OH doesn't see the point of it, and tbh, neither do I when I think about it. Neither of us is religious, and i couldn't think of anything worse than parading round in a big fluffy dress! If we did ever get married, i think it would be a 'just the two of us sneaking off to the registry office' to do it.

Or maybe I just change mine and childrens name by deed poll so we all match!

I'm having a bad day

I can't stop snapping at my OH, he's ended up taking the kids for a walk. I told him I didn't sleep well and was tired and ratty but he keeps !!!!!ing back and now it's getting silly. I feel like I need a good scream. Now in desperation to vent off anger I'm ironing! I hate hormones!!!

Another weeks gone by with not one proper conversation, we live in the same house but he's quite happy to be in another room, always been the same. Woukd never cross his mind to curl up on the sofa with me and god forbid he would even consider watching a programme that might suit both of us. Why are guys such hard work.

Hope everyones ok, haven't been on much this week as back to work, congats Sooz and well done!
Too many children, too little time!!!

My new baby will be taking on his Dad's name and my son who is here already has his dad's name.
So we will all have different surnames, we have spoken about it and OH has said he doesn't mind if when the baby is here and I want to start using his Name for Aston, but nothing is set in stone, my sons father has nothing to do with him and has even changed his won name by deed pole anyway.
It's a difficult one, I would of never put my son in his fathers name if i know what i now now but its done now.
I know thouhg that no matter what happens between me and OH he'll always be in the baby's life so I have no quarms.

Back home. Got strapped up to a monitor at the Delivery Suite, and he started moving lots. Baby was fine, they were more worried about me. Blood pressure was 165/110, so had to have lots of bloods taken. Blood sugar was very low too. Lots of prodding, poking. Had to see the Consultant who did a few tests. Blood pressure settled down a bit to 145/100, which they are happy with. Seeing MW again soon, and have to go back if headache or blurry vision gets worse. Blood results were okay, so hopefully it won't develop into pre-eclampsia.

He stopped moving last night, and no amount of sugar or poking would persuade him to move. But as soon as the MW put the monitor on, he got the hiccups then started kicking! He just didn't want to move for me.

    Madmoobag - 10th January 2009...Happy due date!!!!

Hi Tiamai...Congratulations on the pregnancy...what a shock it must have been though, to find out the coil had gone missing!!!!DoYou have any other children?

I can't wait to order my travel cot from Kiddicare on Monday...I keep checking the quantites they have left in stock, still over 400 at the moment so i'm sure they will still have one for me:)

Baby is running out of room now, feel more squirming, and stabbing me with his bony elbows, than kicks now. He woke me up THREE times last night, I am shattered.

Anyone with babies already, how much roughly, does it cost for nappies and formula a month. I know it will vary a bit depending on amount of milk baby takes and brand of nappies etc....just a rough guide will do:) Trying to do a budget for the year (something I have never done before), but I want to clear debts this year.

    Mel x

I would budget maybe £10.00-£15.00 a week - I always used to use my child benefit for milk and nappies as this was just about the right amount of money.

  • I'm not surprised you had high blood pressure if you were worried about baby and in hospital! And typical of babies to wait till you were there to start moving again - starting as he means to go on I bet. Awkward!
