elle we're trying to decide on starters too... as obviously like you I shouldn't have pate or prawns either...
I was thinking of something fairly light tho... either that or drop the starter and just concentrate on main meal and danish rice pud and then cheese board and loads of nibbles later on :)

caz honey is good for the throat certainly :)
Can you have camomile whilst pregnant? Tea I mean? Because camomile tea with honey is quite good for a cough...

Elle, we don't do starters at mums (more room for pig in blanket and then pudding:)) but MIL always buys smoked salmon things from M&S (I don't 'do' smoked salmon or prawns so usually end up with plain salad ) but if you want something for both of you how about bruschetta you could put any topping on it, garlic and tomato, avocado... I think Jamie or nigella have some nice recipes for toppings if you have their books or if not try delia online (LOVE her site!) xx
MFD: no probs xx just wait until you have to shop with a bored toddler, (actually truthfully they are much easier to entertain than a man :rotfl:)

Tine: I was going to watch noel but I'm not in the mood now OH is making me want to kill him right now

It's just come to me.. melon, mandarin segments and grapes! That's what I'm going to have for starters, plus it's healthy and fruit and everything! :D

I've been trawling through the "what are you having for xmas?" food threads from years ago and one solitary person suggested melon back in 2005. Does that make it retro now!? ;)

It's me, OH, mum, dad, grandma and grandad for lunch and the rest will be having a starter so I don't want to miss out!

I stayed home all yesterday like a good girl to get some rest at the request of OH. I was working late on Friday and having such a stress that I didnt even manage to go to the office xmas party! I just sat there in the office all on my own crying into my files. Why... because i'm a child care solicitor and the local authority decided to start care proceedings regarding my client's kids at 4:45pm on a Friday with the hearing listed for Monday at a Court 2 hours from home. They then decided to fax me all the papers at 5:30pm.

My OH thinks that I sometimes spend too much of my energy worrying about other peoples kids when I should be thinking about my little beanie. I really felt like giving up. Then my back went and OH had to come to my offices at 9pm to literally carry me to the car and bring me home.

I then ventured out today, thinking i'd just grab one last christmas pressie. I went into marks and spencers to get a box of chocolates and the queue was huge. Still I waited and I waited and then got to the cash desk and promptly passed out of the conveyor belt thingy. When I came too they had put me in a wheelchair and shoved me in the corner of the shop! They then harangued some poor doctor doing his shopping to come and have a look at me. I told him I was 4 months pregnant and that I suffer from low blood pressure. I was completely mortified. When I think of it now I just picture me falling forwards with my head on the conveyor belt at the top and moving along to the till bit!!! Imagine the cashiers surprise!!!

OH came to get me and brought me home.

I feel like crying and I'm worried that when i fainted i might have hurt baby

Sorry all, just needed to get it of my chest. It seems that quite a few of us are having a bad time at the moment. Keep smiling xx

oh mooki thats not good i hope that your ok! imagine them just dumping you that is ridiculous??
sounds like you havent been having much fun but agree that you need to think about you and bubs for a while, have you thought about getting signed off as obviously passing out is showing how much stress you are under and will make you feel more stressed. have some love and hugs and try to relax xx

ooh Mooki, I've got tears in my eyes! sound like your really having a pooh time *hugs* did M&S at least give you your choccies for free? I think you deserve them yourself!
I think the moment you stop caring about your clients and their kids is when you need a change of career, but your OH is right that you have to come first as you're cooking up a bun in that oven that needs you to be as healthy and unstressed as possible :D I have an image of your OH carrying you like in that film with richard gere :rotfl: glad your resting up now. I find carrying lucozade/dextro energy tablets helps as I'm a fainter too xx

Thanks guys. I watched some rubbish channel 5 films in bed this afternoon which cheered me up a bit!! Now i'm going to eat some chocolate ice cream (purely for medicinal purposes of course). Only 3 days till xmas and then I get a whole week off. I havent had a whole week off in 3 years!!! I'm going to relax and concentrate on my little beanie.
