They are several things that can be done to hit them where it hurts:
1. Buy one month of phone support and use your credit card. Under the consumer credit act, if they fail to deliver the service they promised (and don't offer you a refund) you can can create a chargeback (even on a small amount such as £5). This costs them money each time a chargeback is issued, and will force them to allocate time dealing with the matter.
2. Buy the phone support and tell everyone on here the freephone number. If they actually answer the phone how about we all give them a call on that number. Why should we have to call their costly 0870 number (which they make money on for each minute someone calls them)?
3. These problems started last year so if three months haven't passed yet, they soon will. Surely someone has written a letter or formal warning to them which has not had a reply - this is all you need to claim they haven't responded for three months. They have probably lost half of the communication so they would probably have no way of proving that they responded to your letter within three months. I reckon you should certainly approach trading standards/OFCOM and tell them you have waited three months with no answer (as soon as this happens).
4. Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 and Sale and Supply of Goods Act 1994 we are entitled to a service that is as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. We may also be entitled to compensation if they fail to compensate us adequately.
5. I haven't studied their terms and conditions but there may be a loophole in their terms which means we can bring a case against them in court (only costs £30) or register a chargeback with your credit card company (includes VISA debit cards too). If the amount claimed is over £100 you may also claim compensation through the chargeback.
6. As a last resort, taking the matter to a county court, as a group, may be something you will wish to consider.0 -

Even though they've now put customers will only be seen by appointment, we can just put one name down but all turn up for that one appointment!!Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Here's a copy of my letter to E7EVEN just to show I can control my Victor Meldrew tendencies occasionally. Thought it may be interesting to the other reader to have an on line record of the date the letter was sent and hopefully the date the reply is received and more importantly the date I get my MAC and returned portion of unused subscription.
Driving to the library yesterday a pheasant ran across the road and I lost my headlamp. £96 just for the lamp as I fitted it myself. Not best pleased with this as had I had an internet connection I wouldn't have had to drive to the library and would have spared the pheasant. I doubt very much if I will be able to claim for the headlamp from anyone but it just goes to show how one thing leads to another.Sunday, 19 February 2006Dear Sir
Re Username@e7even.com
I have been disconnected from broadband since 3.30 Monday 6th Feb.
I have been unable to speak directly to your technical services helpline and messages left have not been responded to.
Although I have raised support tickets these also have not been replied to.
I have, of course, repeatedly, attempted the various permutations of username suggested on your update site to no effect.
Using information provided by forums@adslguide/org.uk I have attempted the various work rounds offered there also to no effect.
I would prefer not to migrate to another provider but the current situation is intolerable. As you are no longer providing the service to me that I contracted for, you are now in breach of contract.
I would be pleased therefore if you could issue me with a MAC as soon as possible and return not only the £5 30-day freephone technical support amount that doesn’t, in practice, provide freephone access to your technical support team but also the remaining portion of my contract fee from Monday 6th Feb to 6th June 2007.
Once again I would like to reiterate that this is action I do not want to take. I had hoped that you would be able to manage the modifications to your network successfully but I am sure you agree it is not sensible for me to continue with a contract that does not provide me with access to the internet or technical support in a timely manner when needed.
Yours sincerely

I'm investigating the chances of getting the unused portion of my biennial subscription returned via my EGG credit card. and also considering a complaint to trading standards. I wonder if anyone else is considering legal action?

Can anyone help me? Accroding to my internet connection I am supposed to be back on broadband, although I am currently on dial-up as when I try to connect through broadband the pages do not load. The icons do not flash very often. The internet gateway has received 102 packets and sent 98 packets, while my computer has sent 197,898 packets and received 159,782 packets.
Does this make sense to anyone and how can I get back on broadband?0
