Can anyone help me? Accroding to my internet connection I am supposed to be back on broadband, although I am currently on dial-up as when I try to connect through broadband the pages do not load. The icons do not flash very often. The internet gateway has received 102 packets and sent 98 packets, while my computer has sent 197,898 packets and received 159,782 packets.

Does this make sense to anyone and how can I get back on broadband?

Have you done the BT speedtest? If you can connect to this, and get good speeds, the problem will be at E7s end (which is my thought anyway after their recent performance).

Here's how to use the test..................

Go to your modem or router. Log out of your broadband (make sure you remember your login details). Reconnect to broadband using these details....

    Username: speedtest@speedtest_domain
    Password: (leave blank)

When you connect to this network. Open your browser (your homepage or any normal web pages wont load) and go to the page http://speedtester.bt.com/ (copy this address in the address bar) You will be prompted for your phone number. Enter this and click Go. This test will show you how your broadband is performing on the BT network before it gets to E7. You can do this test only once every 30 minutes.

Once you have finished the test. You need to go back to your modem/router and enter your login details for E7.

So do I!! Dial-up is desperately slow when you are used to broadband.
  • Spoke to EGG disputes today and they seemed quite hopeful, although only the unexpired portion of the biennial subscription will be reclaimable from E7broadband's bankers.
Trading Standards were also very helpful however I first have to allow reasonable time for the first letter to elapse before following up with a further letter giving formal notification that I intend to take the matter to the small claims court and will be claiming not only the unexpired subscription but also the extra costs involved in having the pursue E7broadband to the court.
Trading standards at E7's office area have also been notified of the companies actions and hopefully others will be making similar complaints so the pressure from Trading Standards to resolve the matter or oblige E7 to cease trading will be somewhat greater.

How can you get the money refunded to your credit card?

Simply call the customer services of your credit card company and ask for the department that handles disputed purchases or chargebacks. The person you initially speak to may be able to help you immediately.

You may need to write a brief letter explaining why the service provider have not provided the service you paid for on your card, or just fill in a form.

Usually, the refund should be made within 30 days - and then e7 will have to appeal if they feel the chargeback should not be made. They also lose money each time a chargeback is issued against them :-)
  • I dont want e7 to cease trading I just want them to sort things out and get us all back on line with a good quality service pronto. My problems have been ongoing like others from the end of Jan but when I was eventually contacted by e7 they were very helpful although this didnt cure the problem and I have continued to lurch from one crisis to another and at the moment my usb modem will not always connect and if it does I get the remote not responding message. After an hour or so this morning all things are up and running very nicely. I would like to do a speed check but I am too afraid of rocking the boat and not be able to get back on e7. My subscription does not expire until end Sept 2007 and when I first had this problem I tried to get a migration notice but I was not allowed, I cant remember the exact words but was denied, I thought this might be due to me only being with them for 3 months. Does anyone want to stay with e7 or am I the only one?????
  • Sorry for a second posting I hope there will be some replies to the first<bg> I am working of my laptop at present due to building work and will soon be able get my main computer up and running after 14months, I would like to get a router and go wireless can anyone tell me if this is going to send me over the edge in trying to set it up on e7 or is there a remote chance it might be easy peasy or do you think that there is a chance that e7 will be a distant sad memory?? hm that looks like a possibility as the line has gone down again and my modem is not registering so all this might be a waste of time grrrr Phew after nearly an hour Im back on line, so I had better send this b4 the line drops, its bad really isnt it!!!
  • Dont just rely on disputed purchase/chargebacks which is part of the credit card companies' own internal procedures.

IF you believe that e7even have breached their contract with you then you can pursue any provider of greater than £100 credit involved in that purchase of goods/services.

So if you paid over £100 on your credit card you can pursue your Credit Card Company as they have EQUAL LIABILITY to you for the fulfilment of that contract under S75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. This is NOTHING to do with credit card company procedures, but everything to do with The Law of at least England & Wales (and probably all UK).

Thus if it's beyond the 90/120 days for Visa/MasterCard to do chargebacks, and you've tried and failed to get e7even to deliver on their contract with you, then pursue your credit card company too under S75 of the CCA74 - their pockets are deeper.
