If you have to pick it up again then make sure you wrap it's legs tightly - ideally use a blanket of some sort. And you will probably find that it will stay calmer if you can cover it's head to keep it in the dark...

    im in angus. scotland,
i hope that it does come round after a nights rest, and that the bleed is something that will heal ok,
all legs seem ok, vet checked them a bit, and when i had rope round its neck at road side i checked fronts , then lifted it by them, which is when i noticed the blood,
fingers crossed, only clipped by car, and in shock, and ok to set free tomorrow,

There are always loads of them in kirriemuir and it tugs my heart strings when I drive past a dead one in the car. hope it is ok - have you tried peterden? I think they often take animals like deer
If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!
  • i was on my way to vets in kirriemuir, found it on road on way,
have spoken to a load of people now, and as its in a shed with big bed, etc, and dark and quiet, have been told thats the best thing to do, moving it now i think would be too much, however, i will def get back in touch with wildlife rescue/tiggywinkles if it survives, or vet if it gets really bad.

we have taken in many animals before now. so dont mind helping, just a very sad thing to find.

i've not got any experience of deer myself and i know you are miles away from them but it might be worth calling wildlife aid, i watch its Wildlife SOS show on Animal Planet and there's often deer on the show. They always say on it that out of all wild animals, it's deers who struggle the most with human contact and stress because of it.
I'm sure they'd be able to at least give you some advice on the best way to help it

I've been following this & hoping it would live.

Can I just say, IF it doesn't you have been so kind to the little deer you will have made its last time very safe & as comfortable as possible.

I believe in karma & you spread good karma:A

    sad news everyone,
i chekes on deer this morning, still alive, head up. but breathing laboured,
    has passed away this afternoon,
unfortunately, unseen injuries, etc, at least deer was in warm dry comfortable place, and not left at roadside, to stumble into further traffic, or be chewed on by wildlife,
nothing more could have been done, and we followed the advice given by wildlife rescue etc,
very sad, but is no longer suffering
thanks to all who gave advise, phone numbers and kind words.
