i was also thinking about when the vet said that she had gone to look for it, and when we turned up the receptionist phoned her to say we had brought it in, i stayed in carpark, we were ment to be waiting for vet to come back, there was only one way in, and no car came through that way, and i was standing there watching, yet vet said she had just come back, mentioned all the fast traffic when she was looking for deer etc, the rad it was on was a quiet one, and too far away for her to be that quick, and no car turned up whilst i was in car park waiting, so she had been in surgery when we had turned up, ?? why lie that much??????
    anyway, thanks again all.
THANKS to everyone who posts competitions. you are all :A.

Very sad news, but thanks to you in its final hours it was comfortable and died in peace.
So sorry for you breezerockz, you must be feeling wretched.

I was reading last night that 90% will die if injured.

You did your best, thanks for the update.

so sorry to hear about the deer, I guess it was pretty much expected and would have been a much more pleasant surprise had she survived. You did absolutely all the best things that you could and you can sleep at night knowing that you have been a better person (possibly? sadly) than the Vet and it is down to you that the poor creature died in a warm and comfortable environment as she did rather than (maybe more swiftly) as you describe.
You are a true animal lover - wish there were more like you.

  • a sad end, it looks like the vet should have PTS straight away, but its easy to say with hindsight!

phoned neighbour who is a farmer, he's coming round tomorrow to help dig a hole to bury deer in, called it fern.
no way we could dig, at the moment is soooo cold everything is white.
and he can carry deer out for us, ( he did say once that any time we need he give him a shout,so we do, but always offer to pay for his time, end up paying in big tins of chocolate, lol)
so at least will be buried, probably in my horses field,
yes, didnt really expect it to survive,
hindsight, yes wish vet had pts, as wouldnt have suffered, but i guess was a chance blood was a minor tear etc,
i am def an animal lover, and i also wish more were the same, or at least had respect for animals, as they are living creatures.
THANKS to everyone who posts competitions. you are all :A.
