I have just spoken to Dan Cordina, at MCR today regarding MfI. It has Taken 3 months, to speak to someone, Anyway if like me you payed your money by debit card and it did not reach their bank account before they went into administration, their is a good chance you can get your money back, Not deposit if paid before. The 30m that is in a fund can only be released when the people that have paid by credit have been refunded. This should be done by October. I have written to Watchdog and the Sun newspaper, maybe if we all do this someone will listen.

I know it is too late for everyone who has lost money and I am sorry if it has already been said before, but please please use local tradespeople for kitchen and bedrooms! most will only take a small deposit (if any), you will get a personal service and they are less likely to 'go under' taking your money with them.

My new Diplomat ceramic hob is acting up. This has happened before. The two smaller plates are not working. Last time, they suddenly began working again.
I have an extended guarantee on the hob but it only comes into effect in October! Till then MFU is resposible. So I sent the administartors an email and the reply was thus:

- There are no funds available for unsecured creditors.

- There are no funds available for MFI to repair or replace faulty
goods.

- There are no funds available for customers with a claim against MFI
for faulty goods.

- There are no funds available for customers with partial deliveries who
have paid by cash, cheque or non-VISA debit card.

- At present, there are no funds available for customers who have paid a
deposit or in full and paid by cash, cheque or non-VISA debit card. The
Administrators hold these customer details from Company records, they
will be contacted if funds do become available but this will not be
before October 2009.

- It is not possible to fulfil requests for copy MFI documentation.

- The Administrators cannot accept product returns.

- The Administrators are unable to assist customers with charge-backs
against their credit or VISA debit card issuers.

- The Administrators are unable to assist with warranty queries.

- There is no requirement for creditors to submit proof of debt forms.

- The Administrators cannot respond individually to customers, fitters
or trade suppliers.

So, what now? I mean, Diplomat should have a manufacturor's guarantee in place, shouldn't they?????

The telephone number on the instruction booklet was the MFI number. I searched for the company on google but nothing seems to be coming up. Does anyone have a clue where to find them?

Sorry for delay, computer's been out of action. I have sent my letter in to Alliance & Leicester, with copies of delivery/non delivery notes. Still awaiting their response. Here's hoping.
I am very pleased to report that I have had full refund from Alliance & Leicester. Can now get on with finishing the bedroom units after managing to get hold of missing parts from other sources.

This is what that website says:
If your Appliance has a fault and is under 12 months old you will unfortunately have no warranty, we can repair your Appliance (not Refrigeration) but we will have to charge for both labour and parts, if it is over 12 months old please check if you have an extended policy with an Insurer, you may have Extended Warranty cover without knowing it, check the receipts from when you purchased your kitchen, if you have Extended Warranty you should have received an Insurance Certificate or Agreement Policy after you purchased your appliance, the 3 main Insurers MFI used were London General Holdings (now TWG), AIG and Domestic and General, if you have one of these policies you should be able to claim on the policy for repairs you require, calling the Extracare Service phone number will not help, contact your Insurance Company direct for assistance, please visit www.mfi.co.uk for details of insurers.

Still can't find a Diplomat site anywhere. I just don't understand why there should not be a manufacturer's warranty; why should MFI be at all involved?
Think I'll give that company a call.

I think MFI owed that company, among many but what i can not understand is if Diplomat were trading under a differant name, then MFI administration should have nothing to do with Diplomat.
