i ordered the units i needed from bargain trading and 4 days later they delivered 4 out of 5 parcels badly wrapped, after several calls over 4 days they agreed to send a replacement then 3 days later they inform me they havent got the item i wanted and now i have to make a claim for a refund, mfi revisited. so close but yet so far.0

well today i checked the mcr website in case there was an update and there was but it isnt good news as anyone who paid by cash or debit card wont be getting any refunds, said that from day 1 and no one at mcr wants to talk to the public about mfi.0

Really bad news for me, I paid 6,100 by bankers order on 20th NOV. Now lost as to whether I have any course of action. Does anyone have any ideas? Halifax bank who issued my bank order stated they were unable to help. I paid my deposit by HSBC credit card and got that back, but they categorically refused to help with the balance I paid from Halifax. is there any point in trying a solicitor? Hoping for advice x0

what has happened to the £32,000,000 held by the merchant provider,,this was supposed to be enough to pay us all out..probably a pack of lies to keep the media off their backs..have continually e-mailed watchdog but they are too busy fiddlig their airmiles..the rest of the moneys have probably been sucked up by the administrators..they appear to get court clearance for any nasty thing they want to do,,so they are virtually untouchable..come on MARTIN how about some help.0

Hi Von
I paid like you on a HSBC credit card and the remainder on a Yorkshire bank cheque. I have received my £1500 from the credit card and was told by them to claim from MFI for the cheque - which i did. Now that they have said they have no more money to pay out i have wrote back to HSBC today who when they wrote to me said if i didnt have any luck with MFI they would take up the claim. I have checked with the financial ombudsman and we are in our rights for HSBC to take this up under section 75. My advice is like me write back to HSBC and say that you have checked with the ombudsman and they should be taking up the debt. Martin Lewis keeps saying that whatever amount you pay on a credit card they are liable for the whole debt. Keep in touch.0 -
Thanks for that cricketgem. I have been back in touch with HSBC by phone and they again deny liability. I have decided to see a solicitor to see if he can get any joy. I had not thought of the ombudsman, but it sounds more hopeful. It's a horrible mess and I will let you know if I have any progress. regards Von0

hi all, my mum and were unlucky enough to order £1200 worth of bedroom furniture in june 08 and paid cash, when this all went belly up all along they were told you will get a refund. Even up to the notice on the mfi web site on 3-2-09 stated this. just had a look today and a new note dated 27-2-09 now states its "unlikely" cash payments will be returned.
Does anyone have adv regarding if an ombudsman could or would help?. thanks0 -
Likewise, £6000 down the mfi drain. I do wonder how they are able to get away with the fact that a letter went out immediately reassuring everyone that all monies will be paid back, and now this complete u-turn. My son whose kitchen it was to be, offered to go to Doncaster to pick it up early on (it was due week after collapse) and has now repurchased from mfistock - I mean where has that £64,000,000 extra revenue for the stock gone to? Its a complete turnabout and I cannot understand why no media source is interested in doing a programme on it? Again, Martin anything to help us cash-losers? The lesson is well learned about paying by debit card, but still would like some help in seeing if there is anything that we can do now?0
