Well no-one ever did reply to my questions......but never mind. Here is my current situation.

Wrote a letter to HBOS via recorded delivery (signed-for) on 22nd December 2008 saying I wanted to claim back £1600 under Section 75. Royal Mail "lost" my first recorded-delivery letter, er, so why did I pay for recorded delivery exactly again ??

So wrote and sent another on 19th January 2009 by special delivery, so at least item could be tracked. Received letter from HBOS on 2nd February saying all refunds were meant to have been completed by merchant partner to customers by end of January 2009, but "it hadn't been completed in my case" ??

I was now to "fill in this claim form and we shall start our investigation"..............er, what investigation needs to be done exactly ? The company has gone bust, it says on both MFI and administrators website, and to claim a refund from CC provider. They are legally obliged to refund all my money paid by CC, they know it, but are just dragging their heels over it ! To date, I have not heard anything back, I am going to give them another 5 days then I will be kicking up a stink some more. I am sick of all this, I just want my cash refunded which I am legally-entitled to.

On another note, ordered another kitchen from B&Q about 4 weeks ago, which took around 3 hours from start to finish, and got it for around same price in the end (but it's nicer kitchen) and am paying 0% interest over 2 years. Delivery is due in about 3 weeks.

I made a claim to HBOS in November under Section 75 for £1000 that I had paid to MFI. I also had to chase them up. I kept calling their disputes number every few days the past few weeks and finally got my refund last friday. I found them very unhelpful and every time I called for an update I was given a different reason as to why the hadn't refunded my money yet. I also had to claim to Lloyds TSB for £3000 and staff were very helpful and got refund early January.

Sorry for delay, computer's been out of action. I have sent my letter in to Alliance & Leicester, with copies of delivery/non delivery notes. Still awaiting their response. Here's hoping.

Finally, after sending Barclaycard a letter asking them to get in touch with the administrators, they finally refunded me my money.

Just to let you know, having put a claim in to Tesco Clubcard Credit Card last November, my February statement shows a full refund, all deposits and balances have been credited back to my card - better late than never, but it would have been nice to know earlier rather than having to wait for the monthly statements.:T:beer::j

I've just come across a website cheaperthanmfi.com which claims to have surplus stock following the loss of mfi. Has anyone bought from these as we are looking for the cheapest kitchen possible after losing £3000 from MFI which we are still waiting for. (we paid the bulk in cash!!) Also does anyone know if charge back covers the whole amount like a credit card, as we paid our deposit for the kitchen on barclays visa debit card but paid remainder in cash, Barclays state they can only look at the deposit for a refund however I am unable to find any confirmation of this?

I have received letter from A&L saying that they have allocated my letter to correct dept, it was addressed to section 75 as told when I made my initial enquiry by phone, and that I should receive a reply in next 14 working days.

I placed order to tradingbargains last Monday (16th) for missing parts and they were delivered on Friday (20th), Can now get on and build bedroom unit.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Put in a claim to Blackhorse under section 75 as only received part of my kitchen. I have been passed to the administrators then back and forward like a yoyo. They are now advising me to look on mfistock website for missing parts.....sorry am I missing something or is that crazy?? Bottom line is MFI breached the contract....who are they to be telling me to run about like a headless chicken looking to trace stock??? Blackhorse have been most unhelpful!!

What do I do?
