Tried ringing many numbers and all give the same response - nothing.
From the initial statement by MCR, all orders prior to and including 7th December delivery have been cancelled, those for delivery after that are under review. There has to be a point when those of us who can just cut and run. Otherwise, there will be a miserable Christmas waiting for news... Lack of information - most frustrating!
On the positive, much like pumpkinsqueak, I'm waiting for the installation team, separate contractors, to come and give a quote for the full thing. Will pop to local store this evening to see what we can get cheap - and if we can pay by Amex - wonderful...

MFI Group Limited (In Administration)
Date: 29/11/2008
Updated: 29 November 2008
MFI Group Limited (In Administration)
Phil Duffy, Geoff Bouchier and Paul Clark of MCR were appointed as Joint Administrators (“Administrators”) to MFI Group Limited on the evening of 26 November 2008. All Administrators are licensed by the Insolvency Practitioners Association.
The Administrators are continuing to review the company’s financial position and operational status. During this time and until further notice, all installation works have been suspended, and no further customer orders are being taken. The MFI stores remain open however for the sale of display stock only.
The affairs, business and property of the company are being managed by the Administrators, who act as agents of the company and without personal liability.
Customers awaiting delivery/installation
Regrettably, whilst the Administrators continue their review of the company’s position, all installation/delivery services remain suspended.
Scheduled deliveries due up to 7 December 2008
Please note that the Administrators have been unable to make the necessary arrangements to fulfil orders due for delivery or installation between Thursday 27 November and Sunday 7 December 2008. Those orders are therefore now cancelled.
As a consequence, those customers who paid by credit card should now contact their credit card providers directly in order to seek a refund.
Those customers who paid by cash, debit card or cheque will be contacted shortly, to advise them as to the status of any possible refund.
Scheduled deliveries due on or after 8 December 2008
Customer orders due for delivery/installation on or after 8 December are still being assessed as to whether or not they can be fulfilled.
Further details regarding the fulfilment of those orders will be posted on the MFI and MCR websites as soon as this information becomes available.
General customer order queries
Please note that customer order queries are not being handled by the stores and that stores are unable to deal with any refund queries.
The most up to date information regarding customer orders will continue to be that posted on the MFI www.mfi.co.uk and MCR www.mcr.uk.com websites.
Whilst the customer services call centres remain operational, please be aware the staff are unable to provide you with any further information regarding the fulfilment of specific orders.
The customer call centre numbers are:
Weekends - 0870 607 5054 between 9:00AM and 6:00PM.
Weekdays - 01405 744 813 between 9:00AM and 6:00PM.
Please note that the call centre is experiencing a very high volume of calls and therefore it may not be possible to get through on the first attempt. You may therefore prefer to email your query to customer.services@mfi.co.uk and your email will be responded to as quickly as possible. Again, there is a high volume of emails and therefore it may take several days to provide you with a reply to your email. Due to high volume of enquiries, and the ongoing review of customer orders, it may not be possible to reply regarding your specific order at this time. As soon as the position becomes clarified, customers will be notified accordingly.
Alternatively, if you require contacting the Administrators’ office, you can do so by emailing the dedicated email address mfi@mcr.uk.com. One of the Administrators’ team will endeavour to deal with your query as soon as practical. However, we do ask that you bear with us as our office is presently experiencing a high volume of emails.
Suppliers
All supplier orders including fitters and subcontractors have been suspended and should not be completed/fulfilled without the express authorisation of the Administrators. Payment will not be made by the Administrators for any supplies/work provided after 26 November 2008 without prior express authorisation from the Administrators.
Suppliers queries should be directed to mfi@mcr.uk.com and one of the Administrators staff will endeavour to deal with your enquiry.
The Administrators offices are located at 43-45 Portman Square, London W1H 6LY.

Hi All
Like many I am looking for some advice. Got my MFI kitchen delivered in August. Unfortunately 2 doors were missing and some trim was damaged. After a bunch of unwilling to help people I finally got the replacements ordered up. They were to be delivered on 4th Dec.....I imagine this is not going to happen. The kitchen is fitted (with the exception of the missing items).
I am devastated that I am now left with an unfinished kitchen in my first home. I took out MFI Finance with Blackhorse which I am currently paying.
Can anyone please give me some advice on this?
Many thanks!!
My understanding is that SLate (Black Horse) is a credit agreement, and falls under S75, so Black Horse will be jointly and severally liable with MFI. In your position, from the note from the administrators posted above, orders for delivery are cancelled, so don't expect to get them. Keep a meticulous record of what you have paid extra and exactly what for. When it comes to any claim, you will be thankful for this detail.
On the positive, the kitchen is fitted - on another positive, you may not start paying the Slate agreement for 3 months - need to check small print, but if the kitchen isn't correct... time to start looking at the not content route...
I'm no expert, but I would suggest that you are in a stronger position than many...0 -

Went into store on sat was given a copy of receipt to show refund was processed but told this may have been blocked by the administrators. Cannot get through at all on any of numbers given constantly engaged. Has anybody who had a refund processed around the same time seen any money yet?0

The letter is from Kroll the administrators. No it doesnt say pay at this date more if you pay within 10days we will give you 10% discount. My argument is i have a faulty kitchen which im now looking to have to pay interest on top.
I havent spoke to the actual administartor yet, this is booked in monday 9am. So i will post what happens
Just wondering what happened at your meeting with the administrators?0 -
Thanks for the advice monstercop.
Yes the kitchen has been fitted, just the replacement washer/dryer and the freezer left to put in. I am luckier than others.
Have been looking into the Section 57 mentioned and have found the template letter accompanying so will be giving that a go...nothing to lose!
Hope we all get these things resolved!!0 -
mfi buyers beware, our local mfi had a closing down sale last time it went into administration and people were buying display stock up.Two day later the store was trading as normal as it had been bought out and all the people who bought display stuff were to get new at the same price they paid.Since then the stores gone under again and these people still havent received their stuff-also administators arent allowing kitchens and large display to be dismantled till friday 5th dec so if it gets bought over will these people get their stuff.0

I too like many are waiting to hear if my kitchen wil be delivered next week. Thing is I paid for it on the credit card and have spoken to them today, though was advised that I had to wait until my delivery date. Problem is I have two dates and my concern is if there are doors, hinges etc missing and I then have a non-functional kitchen!
My credit card company said they would only payout on what wasn't delivered!
Thing is I was buying a whole kitchen not half a kitchen! So where do I stand with the credit card company as I might not have a fully functional kitchen! Can I still claim for the full amount?
My other choice is either cancel the order loose 10% of the purchase price but would my credit card company pay up even if MFI/The Administators didn't?
Or even refuse to accept the delivery, where would I stand there?
Any help/advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks for reading this and your time!0 -
HI all,
If someone could give me a bit of advice i would be grateful.
I bought a kitchen on the Slate plan and had most of it delivered (none of the kitchen has been unpacked). I am due to have the remaining items delivered on 4/12/08. I beleive that Mfi won't be fulfilling any orders up until 7/12/08. If i don't receive these items does that mean that my order is void and i am able to return the rest of the kitchen and have the finance canceled?
Thank you in advance for any advice!!0 -

I'm sure other fitters will agree, most of us are outstanding a lot of fit payments and wont carry out any further installations without being settled for outstanding work completed. And if delivery companies are not paid either, v unlikely your kitchen/bedroom/bathroom will be delivered. As a customer, I would be claiming your money back.
i sympathise with customers who have outstanding work. Please contact us with your queries if in the Central Scotland area and we will do our best to help at the cheapest possible cost to you.
We can still supply and fit bathrooms and kitchens before Christmas. If you have your MFI invoice and details, we can price match or beat MFI prices. Please contact Scott on 07730410420
If it is a loan don't the same rules apply as a credit card. In the way you should not have to pay it back as you did not get the goods. No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
