  • ok , here goes, i stupidly ordered and paid for on my halifax debit card 2 week ago a kitchen costing 12k.Hearing that mfi had troubles last weds morning i went to the store and cancelled my order. The sales assistant gave me a full refund and i now have a refund invoice for the full amount, i was told it would take 4/5 working days for the money to be back into my halifax account, mfi went into admin the following day after my refund, up to today - 3 working days nothing has gone back in.If it isnt in by weds i presume im up sh it creek, anyone else in the same predicament ? ie waiting to see if a refund from last week has been processed ?
  • frohawk, just seen your message.Looks like we are in the same boat.I dont think we have much chance tbh esp after reading your post.
  • I bought a kitchen, also through the Slate card (Black Horse finance) so shall wait to hear further from them.

My immediate concern is that last Monday having waited 8 wks  for a freezer not to turn up i told the manager of my local branch "what to do with it", he explained i would receive a cheque for this item. The following day i went to Comets and bought an almost identical item and had it delivered in 2 days!! Obviously now i`m wondering if this cheque is likely to arrive....I know others are in worse positions but to be over £300 out of pocket just before Xmas is difficult!!

Also i have 2 washer/dryers (1st was damaged) so was thinking of keeping damaged item as "back up"...is this likely to cause me problems?

Fitter is calling round on Wed to finish job but has warned me he will have to charge for the work as MFI have left him out of pocket...obviously feel for him and his colleagues but frustrating to think though that MFI have already had the money for this.

    Sorry for the rant eveyone!!
  • In my experience, the banks authorise payments immediately, and then hold on to your cash. I would expect that it would take 5 days for the money to arrive, but not less. I further assume that you made payment in the same way as the refund, namely using chip and PIN in store. If other refund processes were in place, that might be more challenging.

Do I assume from this that you have had the kitchen completely fitted?

We are having the MFI contractors coming round tonight to see about doing the same work done o/s MFI - in case the MFI people decide that they can't help... It does, however, take ages to get a non-generic reply from them - sure that they are up to their eyes...

Our contractors have worked for MFI for over 10 years - doesn't help that many of the distribution staff have been let go of - doesn't make it a lot easier to get stock...

My feeling on your fitter situation is that you pay him, then claim that back on S75, if possible, after all, you do want it to be finished. A word of caution, however, get everything you spend itemised:

i.e. £150 for fitter to repair doors fitted incorrectly during initial fitting

This will give you more power when you get to the next stage.

    God luck!
  • Im glad its not just me that is stuck with all this MFI nightmare!

    DOWNS

My situation - first time buyer, buying first house. Bought bathroom, full
kitchen and bedroom furniture from MFI , all for delivery before Xmas.

Had call from MFI week before last saying, in a round about way, easier for me to pay the bathroom supplier directly to ensure delivery date is kept. I duly did so.

Now in same situation as everyone else - kitchen due to be delivered this saturday - not likely to happen.

    UPS

Went into my local MFI store on Friday to check status and whats going on with my orders for them to reduced down the display of my bedroom furniture. Literally as i was standing there. I paid just over £1,000 to order 2 bedside tables, bed frame, tall 5 draw unit and wide 2 draw unit - Schriber Manilla Oak range. On Friday I bought all of the above, along with a £600 pocket sprung mattress for £400 in total. My bedroom furniture was due on 6 December to according to the website thats not going to arrive either so I will be simply claiming against my credit card for that.

The kitchen was causing us the most trouble - however a quick call today to our local Howdens - at a cost of £150 more than what we paid MFI, they will deliver the complete same kitchen to our house and with the units already built which is a massive bonus. Our kitchen fitter has a trade account there so thats worked out perfectly.

I have around £4,000 to claim back from MFI which I have instructed my credit card company to start doing, which they have - Marks and Spencers - been very good so far.

Bottom line - get yourself down to a local store to see if any bargains left. Salesman told me they were selling a bed that was previously ticketed at £600 for £55 on the day that I came - its slightly vulture like skulking around and buying the furniture for next to nothing, but we have saved well over £500 and now have the new bedroom furniture sitting in my house - for all the hassle caused, its worth doing.

I have to say that the majority of the sales staff are still keeping friendly and positive which is nice to see - there is the odd one that isnt, which i think is understandable anyhow.
  • some of us still havent been contacted if we are not contacted who shall we contact. the 01405744813 is engaged and 08706075054 will just cut off
  • I still havent been contacted despite ringing various numbers

The number they give is constantly engaged.
    The local stores dont work

I have been trying these numbers - but bear in mind, when you DO get through, they cant tell you anything - which begs the question - why set up the lines anyhow!!

    0191 516 2413 - customer services
    0208 200 8000 - head office
    0161 827 9000 - MCR Administrators office

I too got a refund from MFI which was processed on Wednesday around lunchtime - This still hasnt appeared in my account so Im assuming it has got caught up in all their frozen accounts.
  • will the administrators of mfi abide by mfi terms and conditions

    Hi All

Like many I am looking for some advice. Got my MFI kitchen delivered in August. Unfortunately 2 doors were missing and some trim was damaged. After a bunch of unwilling to help people I finally got the replacements ordered up. They were to be delivered on 4th Dec.....I imagine this is not going to happen. The kitchen is fitted (with the exception of the missing items).

I am devastated that I am now left with an unfinished kitchen in my first home. I took out MFI Finance with Blackhorse which I am currently paying.

Can anyone please give me some advice on this?

    Many thanks!!
