MFI Administration article discussion

Hi All.
Does anyone have any telephone number or a contact person regarding SCHREIBER KITCHENS from MFI. I am trying to check which warehouse my kitchen might be at, if it is there at all.
Would be great if someone could help.
Thank you very much0 -
hello, please can i have some advice?
we have recieved our kitchen in full and is in the garage. we took out there intrest free payment option, with one year off, so we dont have to start paying till next year, however we agreed to pay for installation. the fitters are not going to install it as they have not been paid. Ideally, we would just like a refund from mcr for the installation, so that we can just get on and get it fitted by the mfi fitters but pay them directly. have tried all the phone numbers and have written....
where do you think we stand and how long till we get an answer? earlier posts indicate that some people have had letters saying that if they pay the balance in full they will get a 10% discount....0 -
I bought a kitchen from MFI - they went into administration on the 1st day of my kitchen being fitted. I paid £1500 on my credit card and the remainder on a cheque. I didnt receive over £3k worth of goods so when my kitchen was delivered it was half missing. I went out and bought all new white goods and worktops. the manager at my local store was going to give me a refund which of course didnt happen. Now my credit card company is saying that it will only give me £1.5k back - ive argued and now sent the template from this website. this morning ive contacted the financial ombudsman who will take up my case. Do banks generally do this straight away before backing down?0

As someone else stated on here, im becoming more and more suspicious about the whole thing, including the way MCR are operating, where's all these updates and anouncements and who has been contacted by MCR to organise their refund or explain what's going to happen next? I bet you noone has.
It's a load of !!!!!!!!, they're silently syphoning off what's left. The next update will be "sorry no money left in the pot move on, nothing to see..."0 -
i Don't know if you are all aware or not as the case maybe i was informed mcr employed aload of the ex mfi top bods to do the administration process for them they where the main chairmain/directors bum chums and if they couldn't run the company back then how they going to do admin?
good luck cricketgem i think your doing the right thing and force the issue if everyone did that the banks would have to do the right thing only got to look at the charges issue and the amount they had to give back (not to me thought ) they are trying to confuse it all basically bending the law to suit them. My advice everyone that gets fobbed off do what cricketgem is doing the more that do it the more banks will be kicked into touch also save you all having to wait even longer cos the real fun will be when MFI is completely wound up imagine how busy those specialised depts will be. Mfi has already stated that CC customers will HAVE TO get refunds from them the only refund they may try and make is for cash and cheque if anyones got any sense get onto your cc company now then the financial ombudsman otherwise you could be at the back of a very long line.0 -
My credit card company are now telling me to get a letter from the administrators to say that they havent delivered my order and cant fulfil it. Im so annoyed ive tried the MFI phone line for 2 weeks, sent a letter and an email to see whats happening. Its even more annoying that the HSBC call centre that is handling my refund is in India, i cant understand what shes talking about as she seems to be following a script and cant answer my questions. Im giving them til next week then the Financial Ombudsman is sending the letter!
Im ready to burst!0 -
Why did MFI take my and other peoples money when they knew they were in so much trouble and unlikely to provide the goods.
I found this: http://www.accountancyage.com/accountancyage/news/2227239/mfi-plans-store-administration
MFI is planning to put its stores into administration in an attempt to force its landlords to give the troubled chain some breathing space.
The furniture retailer was subject to a management buy-out earlier this week and is now preparing to place 192 outlets into administration in order to agree a three-month rental waiver from landlords.
Only those stores where a rent-free period can be agreed will then come back out of administration, reported the Guardian.
Quarterly rent for the stores is due this coming Monday (6 October), at a cost of £19m. Chief executive Gary Favell is reported to have told landlords that the rent waiver is the only ‘viable option’

Sorry if I am on the wrong track here, I read somewhere that AIG agreed to pay back some money even if the premium hadn't been paid to them by MFI.
I have just looked at my invoice and seem to have some sort of cover, but don't know exactly what it covers.
I remember a discussion with the salesperson about insurance cover for my furniture and not being sure whether to take it so the salesperson added it for free.
I have an insurance schedule stating the items on my invoice are covered to 2011.
My question would be - does it cover non-delivery, they can't come to see if the furniture is faulty as it hasn't been delivered and they state they will cover the cost of replacement up to the original purchase price.
Anyone got any information, thoughts or ideas on this as I thought it may be another way out for those who paid cash, with a debit card or cheque if they have this insurance?

Just thought folks would like to know as theres not much info out there.
Called the bank about a Chargeback Refund on the purchase with MFI on my debit card.
The bank assistant didn't know much about it but is processing the claim and said I should hear sometime next week by letter.
If not sucessful I will try the template letter from Martin and let you all know what happens.
