(Sorry!...just having a wobble moment there! - doubt my bedroom furniture is going to show this Tuesday either.)
Beware Lego Men with Deep pockets...!
  • We ordered and paid by debit card for a new bed on 2nd Nov. We got a letter for the bed to be delivered 21st November, However, we couldn't manage to get the time at home to take the delivery. wish we had now. Contacted silentnight who said we need to contact MFI.
Had an email to advise there will be an update on teh MCR website on 15th Dec regarding cash/ cheque and debit card customers.
I hope they stand by the statement that customers will either be refunded or supplied with the goods.

  • If you have a bathroom on order with MFI then Wickes use the supplier that MFI used. If you go in to a Wickes store with your MFI order then they will be able to help you get your order from the supplier. Even if Wickes do not sell the same stuff they can get the suppliers to send the goods by faxing your order through to the suppliers for you. This may not work in every instance but its worth a try!!

    Hope this helps someone

For my sins I have 80% of an MFI kitchen already fitted, and was waiting for delivery of the rest last Friday. According to the administrators website http://www.mcr.uk.com/News.aspx?articleID=76 anyone waiting for deliveries upto 7th December is out of luck and their orders are now cancelled. Their comments regarding refunds are not looking promising either, I quote "
As a consequence, those customers who paid by credit card should now contact their credit card providers directly in order to seek a refund.
Those customers who paid by cash, debit card or cheque will be contacted shortly, to advise them as to the status of any possible refund."

Anyway onto the swopshop route .......... I am looking for the following:

SPACE CREAM 1000mm HighLine Base Unit x 1
SPACE CREAM 500mm HighLine Base Unit x 1
SPACE CREAM 1000mm FullHeight Wall Unit x 2

    SPACE CREAM 300mm Larder Door x 1

    CHUNKY HANDLES 610mm x 4

I have some space cream bits I don't need, so let me know if you are short.

    Dr. Options

P.S. Howdens do supply very similar kitchens to MFI, so they might be worth a try if you are missing bits, although their 'Gledevon Cream' is a slightly different shade to MFI Space Cream.

    Hi All

I am looking for the following:

Space Cream 600mm full height door
Space Cream 400 mm full height door
    and a length of cornice

    I have 2 handles spare 500mm

Hi All, hope someone can help me out.

Kitchen was delivered in August and is now fitted however a few items were missing (doors and cornice). I paid a £300 deposit with my switch card and took the finance option with Black Horse. Can anyone advise where I stand as my kitchen looks terrible with missing doors, etc and I'm going to be paying for an unfinished kitchen for the next 3 years.

Kitchen is space cream, tried Howdens but the colour is a different shade. Does anyone know who manufacture MFI kitchens or if I can contact them to purchase. Or if anyone can suggest a match elsewhere?

    Many thanks

At the moment we can't do anything until MFI actually say they aren't delivering. We were wondering if we can tell MFI (politely) what they can do with their kitchen - in other words CANCEL. If we do this can weour money back from the credit card company?

Also paid £3500 by CC for our kitchen due for delivery on 20/1/09. Worked in banking complaints for 20 years (defending cases that went to the Financial Ombudsman Service) and familiar with S75 claims and have been wary about the reassurances about getting money back all along due to the single item limit of £100. Most items are listed as less than that so won't be surprised at all if our claim is declined, tho if this happens everyone should pursue all the way thru to the FOS (CC companies will often try to use loop holes in the law to try and get out of claim but doesn't cost you anything to pursue in this way).

I have decided to look at the cancellation option (which mfi obviously won't agree to). However, I'm thinking that once they've declined my cancellation request (in writing), it may be possible to claim on my CC for breach of contract as per their T&Cs. If successful I would only get full cost, less 10% as per MFI T&Cs, but that would still be more than if I only got the amount for items more than £100. Plus then I can move on and get another kitchen ordered as opposed to waiting until 20th Jan. If claim is declined then I could still try to claim under non delivery of goods at a later date.
Worth a try I think. Keep you updated with progress.

We bought the Kennington kitchen, was fitted at beginning of November, one door for integrated extractor fan outstanding, due to !!!! up when MFI salesman placed the order. It was reordered and was supposed to be coming by TNT 3 days after MFI went bust. So fell into the period which they say, means we've got no chance of receiving it. However, my briliant fitter spotted almost exactly the same units/doors in Magnet inSwindon, and I've taken a drawer front there to compare for colour etc. The colour and style is exactly the same, same smooth finish, Edwardian style etc. Only slight difference on the edge of the moulding, but I don't think it'll be that different or noticeable really, so I'll probably go with that. Only problem is, I think they are more expensive. I was quoted £145 for just the 600 x 480 door to go over the extractor unit, which seems a lot to me? Anyway, if it helps anyone else, try Magnet for the Kennington range.
Fantastic. Do you know the name of the Magnet range? I am missing various items from the Kennington range and was due second delivery on the 1th Dec????
