I have an outstanding order of £1350. I've paid £350 deposit on credit card and am expecting to be able to reclaim this from Barclaycard. What I'm unsure of from the FAQs on this website is that it says if you pay a deposit "you get the protection for the whole thing even if you only pay for a part of it on the card". Does that mean I can reclaim £1350, even though I've only actually forked out £350? I'm sure that can't be true but if it is I'm happy to give it a go!! :D

hi im in the same situation as yourself paid 250.00 deposit on a otder off 900.00 barclays credit card, how you going to be claiming? if you can please keep update on situation thanks

Can't comment on the refund situation, but I would have thought that the credit card company would have a record of the transaction on your account, and as the supplier generally requests to put refunds on the same card as it was paid for on (avoids fraud), then there will be an auditable trail of what you paid, to who, and when, which should help.

My credit card only shows the money taken off but no refund or other activity. I think the refund resale thing was just a MFI internal thing. MFI customer services have confirmed both invoices were the same transaction.

  • Hi there
I have been fitting bedrooms for Mfi for 5 years and all of a sudden am looking for work:confused: . If any body wants me to fit their bedroom or office furniture please give me a call 07947 772933 JOHN and I can give you a price. I live in the Sidcup/Dartford area. If you have your invoice I can match or beat the price that MFI would have charged you!
    Thanks

Does anyone know the position as follows:-

I had a kitchen delivered from MFI but surprise surprise with a number of items missing.... After some heated discussions with the local branch, I managed to get a couple of these items and was promised the last outstanding items would be dleivered by 4 Dec. Therefore, we arranged with our own Kitchen fitter to fit all the parts we had. Now, we paid for the whole kitchen on credit card so what do we do, do we claim for the whole kitchen back from the Credit Card company or if it just the outstanding items, what is the use as I can't buy the outstanding items elsewhere so end up with a half fitted kitchen ?????

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    It is a Kennington Kitchen

    Hi

I am in the same position as you and for the same kitchen (Kennington). I still need 4 pieces to complete the kitchen and if these do not arrive (delivery was sch 11/12) I really don't want the kitchen. I paid a lot of money for a once in a lifetime kitchen and surely MFI are in breach of their initial contract to supply you with a kitchen? Are we entitled to claim for all our money back? I am so upset by this whole business.

    I have the same problem]

HI all, I have had about 75% of my kitchen delivered on the 24/11 and the rest to be delivered on the 18/12 I'm just hoping they can deliver them as I can't fit the kitchen without the items,I just would like to know where I stand if they don't deliver on the other bits. Can I send it back,Can I get a full refund from my credit card company even though I have had 75% of the kitchen delivered. And who owns the kitchen is the cc company or MFI .I paid £4500 pounds on two credit cards it's a real nightmare I just wanted to a poxy kitchen and now look what's happened my wife is in a right state I have pulled most of my old units apart luckily I have left the oven and sink in,As I said I just hoping that they can deliver the rest of my kitchen by the way its the kennington range. Thanks

Me too. I have 75% of the Kennington range and the rest was/is due to be delivered on the 11th December. If I can't have the whole kitchen then I don't want any of it. There are a number of quotes about the Kennington Range. I am so disgusted by it all. What are you missing?

I collected my Kutchen Lab kitchen yesterday from MFI Bedford that was supposed to be delivered on the 1st December - thank god as i thought i would lose out on the lot as i had paid via cheque!

All the appliances are missing but at least i have the kitchen so thats a start!

Bedford MFI stores all Kutchen Lab kitchens once delivered from Germany, if anyone wants contact details let me know as they had 70 odd Kutchen kitchen that have been delivered over the last few weeks just sat around waiting to be collected!

Hi! Anyone know how I can get spare parts as I have been given the run around by MFI for months and now it looks like it's all too late. I really need three handles (knobs!) for the small Melbury bedside chest and eight door hinges for the Melbury cupboards. I really need to be able to finish constructing my bedroom. :xmassign:

OK if you need replacement kitchen handles for your MFI kitchen you can contact Trade Handles, they supply handles to the likes of MFI, B&Q, Wikes etc and also sell direct to public and trade via http://www.tradehandles.co.uk.

You can call them on 01603 871055. If you can't find an exact match to your MFI handles on thier website I would suggest measuring the hole centres which is the distance in millimetres from the centre of one hole to the other (of course this doesn't apply to knobs), and email this info along with a picture. I hope you find what you need. Cheers. Jo
  • ordered a kitchen from MFI in January 2008 and paid a deposit of £1504.00.

Due to being out of work and my wife having twins we were unable to afford the kitchen and asked for a full refund.
I originally cancelled my order in the first week of September with the saleman (who I ordered my kitchen with) in the Ayr store and was told it would take up to 3 weeks to process my refund. When I hadn’t heard any thing by the end of September I rang again and was told the refund was being processed and would take another couple of weeks.
I eventually spoke to the Manger of the Ayr store who said the refund was never undertaken and he would do it now for me. I spoke to the Manger on a number of occasions and he assured me that it is being dealt with. I then found out that MFI were in financial difficulties.
After visiting the store in person on Saturday 1st November and speaking with the Manger face to face he assured me that the refund had been processed and gave me the refund invoice numbers and showed me them on the system. He said he would ring head office on Monday morning and find out what was happening. I spoke with the Manger on Monday & Tuesday of the following week and he said he was unable to speak with anyone from the accounts department.
I then took it upon myself to contact them direct and chase for my refund, i eventually spoke to a member of staff in the accounts department who said that "all refunds are awaiting the opening of a new bank account and we don't have any time scales. I asked for the name of the head of finance and emailed him direct, only to be told to contact the Administrator Kroll.
I contacted Kroll who was very unhelpful and wouldn't give me any indication of what was happening with my refund. I have since contacted him and he is still very unhelpful.

At any time i was not informed that MFI had gone into Administration or given any formal written notice to say what would happen with my refund. I requested my refund weeks before MFI went in Administration and feel cheated & robbed that they stalled my refund on purpose.

    Can anyone help???

    Hi,
I wonder if anyone has any idea where we stand with our refund please?
We bought an ex-display kitchen on our credit card. Obviously we have recieved all of this. We then ordered units that we needed in addition to the display ones from another MFI store which was still open. Foolishly paid £800ish on a debit card for these. These additional units are supposed to be delivered on 10th Dec. Sees unlikely that they will be though

As I paid for the original part of the order on a credit card, would this cover the outstanding part which was paid by debit card? I have heard Martin say that even if you pay £1 deposit on a card it covers the whole purchase. Would mine count though- as the secind lot of units were bought on another date from another store? Obviously though anyone can see they are for the same kitchen (same name ifswim!).

Any advice gladly received - it is so upsetting.! We have the display part fitted so am living in a total dump without a sink awaiting the delivery on 10th!! I have found out though that we can get the same units from elsewhere so if the worse happens we will be out of pocket by £800.

I must add that I feel even more sorry for the MFI staff who end up out of a job and all the fitters etc who are in dire staits now. Hope you all get sorted.
