MFI Administration article discussion

Hi,
Sorry to hear other peoples tales of woe, here's mine. Any help, comments much appreciated.
In October our local MFI was to close along with loads of other MFI stores nationwide. I went in and my wife and I saw a nice display kitchen for sale. We thought this was a really good deal and went ahead with the purchase. This was for £6000 and I paid fully with my credit card. We were told it was the display we were buying and we had to remove it over the next few days.
I arranged a friend to come with me to remove it. I went into MFI and they said that their store had been saved from closure but they would honour the kitchen we had bought, but instead of getting the display they would send us out a brand new kitchen as they now needed to keep the disply one. I thought thats great, we get a good price on a display kitchen and now they are sending us a brand new one.
Now this is my main worry, although I paid by credit card for the display kitchen they made out a new order for the new kitchen and did some fancy internal refund/new sale with the old invoice and put the new invoice through as a cash sale, I'm not exactly sure what they did, maybe this is standard. At no point did they send the money back to my credit card or did I hand over any cash. Does this still count as a credit card sale although my second invoice says cash sale ? Was thinking I would be safe to seek refund from card supplier, section 75, now i'm worried and confused
I did also want the kitchen delivered early next year but didn't know the exact date as i'm waiting on building work, they said they would put the date back to March and I could change it to earlier any time I liked, now I don't think I can and might have to wait until March.
Happy Christmas eveyone,
Thanks

We paid for the premier fit because we wanted the 24mths extra Workmanship guarantee (includes doors, cabinets and all fitting for an extra 24mths) at a cost of £1500 extra, we usually have bad luck with tradesman and fixings so wanted it covered.
We have black horse finance and it's due Jan 09 but we have a leeky sink, outside tap has stopped working (dont know what the fitter did) cupboards keep moving and catching etc..........Fitter doesnt want to know! I havent even signed to say my kitchen is finished?
Black horse have advised us to write a letter outlining everything wrong etc and outline what we expect to be done about it!!!!! Send by registered post.
I am not happy paying for 24mths extra warranty when i am getting nothing??
hope this helps :money:0 -
Before anyone jumps on me, I have read all the posts on this and the message on the MFI website, I just want to know one thing?
The message states that all deliveries and fittings between the 27th November and 7th December have been cancelled.
My furniture was due for delivery on the 26th November but got a call on the 25th to say it would not be delivered due to a driver strike.
My question is, does this come under the deliveries between the above dates now or has anyone heard anything about the date before this?
Can I also say that I did have some sympathy for the staff at MFI until my wife paid a visit to our local store and was confronted by a really rude person complaining about losing their job.
The staff will be paid before the poor customer is offered any money and by reading the posts some of us stand to loose a lot more than a months wage and may not have the option to replace the furniture by paying again, the staff can look for another job.
Anyway, has anyone heard about deliveries before the dates above?Mortgage FREE as of March 2015

It is my understanding that the payment is made by credit card, so as long as your credit card statement shows the payment, this will be suffice. Many of the sales invoices sent out by the hub have 'Cash Sale' on them, but this isn't the case. Also, the hub don't get involved in the finance side of things, so the paperwork which comes through may look inaccurate.
If in doubt, check your credit card statement.0 -

The assistant said call in in the next few days we will take it down for you I couldnt do it for 'health and safety reasons' Called today and of course the store is now closed and the 'helplines' 08448008663,0876075054 ,01405744813 are useless??
What can I do now ???? apart from wave goodbye to £126 which I cant afford to do???
I bought some extra items i needed tofinish off my 3/4 complete bedroom. (Minori walnut) which should have come on 2nd December. Finding out it wasn't going to come from the web page. I shot off to my local branch to see if they had what i needed in the ex display stuff. Sure enough the minori walnut range was still available, so i bought the range (at extra cost obviously, just hope my original order gets refunded, plus i've now got more stuff than i can possibly fit into my bedroom). Now they told me we had to dismantle ourselves as due to health & safety they weren't allowed! The administrators insurance did not cover them but did cover us. They also said we should collect Sat, but i wanted to know i'd got it, so went up the next day & collected it. That was yesterday, so at least i can get my bedroom finished. They also told me more than once that i was dealing with the administrators not MFI so you should get your money back or the bathroom!
Hope thats of some use.0 -
You are indeed right about taking it apart yourselves.
As said in previous post, I went to MFI Last Friday and bought my entire bedroom furniture order for a third of the price but was also told that i would have to collect it, dismantle it etc as they werent allowed.
So 10am on Sunday morning, with a load of screw drivers and allan keys and the stuff is now at my home - to save over £500, that was surely worth doing0 -
I am fortunate that I have my kitchen delivered in August and now fully fitted.
However, I did pay for extended warranties for my hood, hob, oven and dishwasher. The Certificate of Insurance states that this is underwritten by AIG UK Limited, but enquires should be directed to MFI Financial Services on 0845 7959722 - guess what - yes, the number is constantly engaged!!! Does anyone know whether this insurance is still valid and, if so, who do I contact if I need service under the guarantee. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.0 -
What happened when you got through? Could they tell you anything specific or did they just repeat what's on their website?
SHE ASKED FOR MY REF NUMBER AND WAS ABLE TO TELL ME THAT THEY ONLY HAD HALF OF MY ORDER AS MANY ITEMS WERE OUT OF STOCK. SHE ADVISED ME TO E MAIL THE MCR WEBSITE TO ASK FOR A REFUND , WHICH I DID, BUT I WONT FIND OUT IF I CAN HAVE A REFUND UNTIL 15.12.08. WHICH IS FUSTRATING. MY FINGERS ARE CROSSED ASWELL AS EVERYTHING ELSE !!0 -

Hi Monstercop,
Not sure what you mean by "the hub", is it the desk space with PC's etc instore ? The bit where they sit you down and fill in the order etc ?
The thing is my invoices have different numbers etc and the first says credit card and the final second invoice says cash sale, and a refund / resale sheet in between. The saleswoman said it was just an MFI internal thing. No refund ever went on my CC and they didn't give me any cash back instore. I'm confused, I just worry incase my CC company say the original invoice was paid by CC but that was refunded and then I purchased the second invoice with the refunded cash...

Hi Everyone, Its my first post on here and i too have been let down by the MFI in the last couple of weeks after being a loyal Sub Contracted Fitter for the last 3 years. I am currently helping out customers who have been let down in the Preston (Lancashire) and surrounding areas. I can supply and fit full kitchens or help customers who have only a part kitchen and need help sourcing the remaining bits at competitive prices.
I can supply endless references from happy customers and can provide a full service to include supply, fit, tile, plaster, electrics and gas to current regulations.
Customers with an MFI invoice and plan, I can price match or beat.
