Hi eveyone, just got 5 mins to spare so here's what I've been up to today.

We're having an extension built and a couple of walls knocked out so today we've been taking the kitchen cupboards out and now they're in the dining room with the fridge and freezer. Work begins in earnest next Tuesday - and yes I know we're mad starting just before Christmas, but it has enabled me to invite us up to my sisters for Christmas dinner!!

Just polished off a big bowl of chicken casserole and a bowl of (slightly sad) bananas and custard for tea. Yum.

DS got his friend over and It'll soon be time to take him home so I'll say bye and wish you all a pleasant evening.

wannabe sybil, thanks for that, I worry that I am boring people, lol. With the shortcrust pastry I have been using vegan pure marge and that seems to make a really sticky mixture, if you add extra flour (just a bit) and mix that in and then roll it with loads of flour it seems to work ok, gave it a nice crumbly (but stable) texture last time so fingers crossed for the same tonight. Also the Pratchett books are my absolute favourite (esp. the Discworld ones), been collecting them second hand for a few years and need to sort them out now to work out which ones I need an which ones are duplicates. Will get around to it eventually!

Enjoy having your father around, don't push yourself too much tomorrow, if you set too much you wont get it done, trust me, that's what I do everyday! I always clean like crazy for parental visits, luckily mine are quite messy (not dirty, just cluttered) but the OH's mother is prolly never impressed (ho hum, can't please everyone).

Will prolly pop on tomorrow at some point but will be AWOL for the weekend as we're staying with friends. They live in the middle of nowhere in Northumberland and it is beautiful, even at this time of year! Cold though so washed a load of jumpers and vest tops for extra layers. We take our cat too and, after some initial apprehension, she loves it. They have a dog so we are trying to slowly introduce them to each other and so far so good. Mostly we try to keep them seperated though as we're so tense when they're in the same room! They also have a budgie, which has caused some problems. Twice the cats nearly caught and eaten the poor thing so we have to be EXTRA careful this time. It's like a proper little holiday each time we go, really restful (despite staying up UBER late!) and they always make lovely food for us. Which is why I'm determined to take some stuff this time and share my newfound cooking skills.

I abandoned the kitchen before when I said I was going back to it, went in the bath instead! Have put the DW on now though and tidied away a few things so it's a bit better. The dish I want to use for lasagne is in and the pan for the white sauce so I guess that will have to wait, what a shame! Also doing the ginger biscuit cake tomorrow (at least it'll be fresher that way). Got some washing to get out of the machine now and I should clean the kitchen some more but that may wait as I can't be bothered, lol.

    *huggles* to all again.

*EDIT* Pippa.S - My OH called me Martha Stewart the other night and asked if I could do some fraud too to make money! And oddly enough my name is Rose Mary (not Rosemary though)

I'm in shock, Mrs Degree graced me with her presence for a whole 40 minutes, she got one small job done & then said she had to get back to her own desk, claiming 'pressure of work' I told her I expected her back tomorrow, lol.
I took some more scarves in today & made £45, so I'm really chuffed.
    Have a good evening.

    Evening all,
So late on here today because I have been so busy doing absolutely nothing. When we got up this a.m. DH put pillows and a throw on the sofa and made me put my feet up with my book, mags and coffee. DF's moved back home after lunch, DH gave them my HM spicy carrot and Tom soup from the freezer stock, he followed instructions and made his first loaf in BM. :T
He's finished stacking the logs in the ingle-nook we don't use.

Not feeling as tearfull as I was y/day, it must have been the anaesthetic as I don't normally burst into tears.:o

ANNIEB I did type y/ays post but only used the good hand, took me ages.

Thank all of you for the kind mentions, as you can gather from this post I have done everything you've told me. Bless Yah. :A

    Lots of Hugs to all.

    Evening all,

Had a busy day at work setting up the sale, and got a few bargains, for Xmas, :T . But i am shattered now, we have had chicken and chips with peas for tea, have washed up, and hung the washing on the airer, so will now sit and relax for the rest of the evening.

Beth, glad to see you are resting xx

Hester well done on the scarves :T

Esor, you are doing really well with your cooking x

Soapy, hope something happens soon :D .

Taurusgb, I hope all goes well for your DS2

Sorry to hear of those being made redundant xx

    have good evenings all xx

Thanks everyone for your good wishes for DS2. He came home from school feeling worse :eek::eek::eek::eek: so I dosed him up and have him sitting tucked up on the sofa. We all have all our fingers and toes crossed and are being determindly cheerful and optimistic to keep his spirits up - but I don't think I'll sleep much tonight what with worry for DS2 and toothache:mad: which is getting worse by the hour.

Have only skim read the thread so hope everyone is OK. Am thinking of everyone who is worried about redundancy (or has already experienced it). This is NOT a nice time!

Pippa.S here's a link to an article that has a brief description of what a membrane sweep is. Don't want to embarrass anyone on here by going into details! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Induction_(birth)
The midwife did tell me though that while doing it she could feel the hair on the baby's head!

Soapy speak to your midwife about your "floater" in your eye - could be a sign of high blood pressure. Good luck with the membrane sweep - I had one with DD2 - the Dr doing it was wearing a light blue shirt and didn't think to put on an apron....my waters burst there and then and soaked him....luckily he saw the funny side :D

I was going to mention the eye thing to the midwife but was so worried about the membrane sweep that I forgot! She did check my blood pressure though and she said it was fine.
Well, still no baby but I have been booked in for next Wednesday on the delivery suite so even if it hasn't arrived by then, they will be inducing me on Wednesday.

Sorry for not being OS in this post but I just wanted to respond to other people's comments to me.

    Hugs to all!

well, tomorrow is the proper start of my old style lifestyle.

Groceries come tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night and saturday will be spent with me and OH having a cook up with some cheesey music probably lol and a quick trip to poundland tomorrow as well to pick up some containers to freeze stuff in.

Have got plenty of lentils too lol.

used to kinda do this in my old flat with sunday's as cooking day. but this is the first I am properly doing it. Shopping online so I dont get tempted by special offers on ready food and am more likely to stick to my list!

Have bicarb and white vinegar due as well for my laundry.

WIth my two packs of mince (on offer!) I am planning on making a vat of chilli, some bolognaise and some burgers. Then going to do some spicy bean burgers, spicy tomato and lentil soup and a lammb tangine.

Wish me luck (am just an ickle newbie at 22!) there is me and my OH only to be fed (we lodge with OH's family and they buy their own groceries)

Any hints and tips would be greatly received!

Add oats/lentils to the mince to eke it out further, for the bol and chilli.
