OS Daily Thursday 27th November 08

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 27rd of November. It is is an ‘over the garden fence’ type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome; please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.

Morning.

A bit late today, but I see that no one has started anything.

It is supposed to be my day off, but I have to go to work for court, but we are putting up the office Christmas tree in the afternoon. This will be followed by a trip to the pub, so worth going in for.

I spent the morning yesterday spraying Waxoyl under the car, so my hands and face got rather black. Horrible stuff, but it seems to stop the car rusting up.

Wandered down to Truro for the late night shopping last night. Did not buy anything as it was far too busy to move, let alone think about shopping. It was very good though. Real reindeers on parade, lots of lights, food and atmosphere. Maybe too much atmosphere, that makes people not able to shop....

Wetherspoons curry for tea as we are out.

Daughter is off to Royston today to watch her BF pass out of his basic training in the REME. He's done quite well really.

Well best get the bins out and the packed lunches made... Cheers

Off to work in a sec, I wonder what Mrs Degree's excuse for not helping me will be today?
A couple of us have been given permission to take in some of our wares to sell, I have a few scarves left so I'll take them in along with a couple of lavender toiletry baskets.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Lodger soup for lunch & cottage pie for tea

Seem to be having trouble getting back to sleep once Ive woken up, never mind it means were all a little more organised in the mornings now. Just remembered about hubbys tax on the van and went to get all the stuff together to post it off only to notice his DOE test (Mot equivelant) runs out tomorrow:eek: so that means a trip into Cork to tax it manually. Nightmare wanted to go in opposite direction really to use up some spend 50euro get 15 off!! So I must reorganise my day and then have a meeting at school about the boys school work. Anyway did well yesterday baked and cleaned all the windows and typical its raining this morning. I'll get the lunches sorted now and have another cuppa. Have a good day everyone.

Hi all. A bit milder here today and no sign of rain at the moment. I am just having a coffee before getting ready to leave for work at 7.40. I had a better start to the day than yesterday - at least I could have a cuppa when I woke up. I really missed it yesterday when I had to fast for my blood test!

Beth - I'm so glad you are back at home now. TAKE IT EASY!

(((Hugs))) to all who are in need.

Dinner tonight will be HM steak pie but I don't know what with. Probably something like chips and gravy which we love so it will be an easy dinner. We had stew last night which was lovely, but I'd run out of suet so no dumplings. We'll have the rest for dinner on Saturday.

Enjoyed last night's TV - I actually watched what I wanted to watch without dozing off - a miracle, especially as I had been typing all afternoon and my eyes were wobbling! Watched Little Dorrit (one of Dicken's that I haven't read but will look out for) then The Devil's !!!!!, so I was in different eras. Luckily, DH likes that sort of thing, too.

Well, I'd better go. Will have a quck read on some other threads and then
    get organised for work.

Hope everyone has a good day.

  • Good Morning all:)

Do you know what I wish? I really wish that the smiley face icon I just used was on the side of message window when you write instead of in the [more] window -it just drives me mad, I'd use it far more if it were handier :p:D

Aaanyway -today is marketing day so I'm off for a quick run round Tesco's to get a few basics. Then it's off to the farmshop for cheap milk that was in the cow this morning -in fact might even still be in there;) , veg and lovely cheap, local apples.

The kids are having plain old toast for breakfast this morning with jumbleberry jam.

They've got hm rolls with cheese or hummus, carrot sticks, fruit and flapjacks for their lunches. I shall have hummus and crackers, carrot sticks and fruit.

Supper will be smoked mackerel, winter salad (chicory, apple, walnuts, carrot, celery etc) and baked potatoes.

I might get round to making some muffins later as I didn't manage it yesterday.

I've finished all my Christmas shopping btw -just one trip round the shops and lots of online shopping:j :j I get twitchy if I haven't completed it by December.

    Have a good day OSers;)
  • Good Morning All

My cold seems to be a little better today and so is DD's so she is back to school today.

Have a busy one planned - at least and hour in the office then will order some more Xmas pressies online with what money I have left this week. Then I want to get at least 10 things listed on ebay. I have worked out that we will be struggling to pay our VAT again in Jan so I want to raise as much funds towards that as possible.

I will be on a mission, I have applied for a couple of pt jobs but heard nothing - think its because I havnt worked outside of the house for overr 10 years. However will have a good look at jobs online today.

OS - will be cleaning kitchen with stardrops mixture and will swish bathrooms too. If have time will pop out for the remaining ingredients for my onion marmalade and will make some twinks hobnobs.

Its jacket pots for tea tonight - nice, cheap and easy.

    Have a good day.
