well done for bulking out mince - i am a veggie and have had a conversation with my friend about what i did different with my bolagnaise (ie her kids eat mine and but not hers) told her i added lentils and grated carrots - turns out granny adds carrots and they eat hers!! if you dont like bulking out dishes with lentils grated carrot is an option.

well, tomorrow is the proper start of my old style lifestyle.

Groceries come tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night and saturday will be spent with me and OH having a cook up with some cheesey music probably lol and a quick trip to poundland tomorrow as well to pick up some containers to freeze stuff in.

Have got plenty of lentils too lol.

used to kinda do this in my old flat with sunday's as cooking day. but this is the first I am properly doing it. Shopping online so I dont get tempted by special offers on ready food and am more likely to stick to my list!

Have bicarb and white vinegar due as well for my laundry.

WIth my two packs of mince (on offer!) I am planning on making a vat of chilli, some bolognaise and some burgers. Then going to do some spicy bean burgers, spicy tomato and lentil soup and a lammb tangine.

Wish me luck (am just an ickle newbie at 22!) there is me and my OH only to be fed (we lodge with OH's family and they buy their own groceries)

Any hints and tips would be greatly received!

I'll add this to the Daily thread, where poeple chat about OS things they've been doing.

  • yeah I did a bol sauce bulked out with bacon, lentils and carrots and it was really delicious. Got the frozen portion out of the freezer for tonight's dinner and added some potato gnocchi to bulk out again and the DDs loved it. Have eaten gnocchi in restaurants but not cooked with them before and they were lovely. Didn't make them myself btw - bought ones that just need 2 mins boil and then chuck in to the bol
