Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wed 26/11/08. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
Morning.
It's my day off, but I don't seem to be able to lay in bed. 5.30 wide awake and mind racing.
I have a number of things to do today, including getting the car ready for the MOT on Friday. I don't fancy scabbling around under the car in this freezing weather, but I will grin and bear it.
Yesterday the town switched on their Christmas lights and that was pretty pathetic. Some mild celeb from the local radio station and a puppet called Gus Honeybun. Gus has been around for 40 years or more and used to read out birthdays on the regional TV. Well he did'nt, it was a presenter, but GUS would jump up and down and turn the lights out if requested. He would also give bunny hops for the years of the birthday.... Man I am getting old.
Keeping spending to a minimum at the moment and trying to get Christmas sorted. Things are still pricey, not much in the way of discounts about and no cheap turkeys yet.
Well, have a good day

Morning all
Night out last night, I went for a drink with some of the people I work with, I decided against joining the Christmas do as it was around £90!!!!! So last night was a cheaper option, £6 for a drink & a bowl of chips.
I need to go to the bank after work & pay hubby's cheque in, lets hope it doesn't bounce.
Lodger soup for lunch, not sure about tea, I'll have a scrummage in the freezer.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning n9eav and all to follow,
I saw an advert yesterday that Aldi, were doing a duck within a goose within a turkey for £10, it looked really nice, we do not have one near to us, but it might do someone.
Well its COLD here, the car is covered in frost, will have to scrape it all off I hate that job.
Off to work today, I feel a lot better which is good, it must have been a 24 hr thing.
I have a small piece of turkey tonight, which I will roast, with mash, and have carrots, sprouts and cauli, with gravy.
Last night I did a lamb thing with the last of sundys roast, I slow cooked it with leeks, corgettes, butter beans, lentil soup and moracan spices, it was delish, we had it with cous cous, my OH loved it, :T , there is enough left for me for lunch today.
OH has hm soup and hm roll for lunch and DD had a hm ham roll, a hm cookie and an apple.
Will swish and swipe before work, and put a wash on tonight, we also have a sainsbugs delivery coming tonigt, I put a couple of extra bits on for xmas, a jar of goose fat, which makes the best roasties ever, and a half price box of truffles, which will make it till xmas I swear.
Thanks to Elona, I got some bargain stocking fillers for my dd last night x
Beth good luck for today, hurry back, we will miss you xx
Steff, hugs to you and your dd xx

Good morning everyone,
not on for long - getting ready to head out to work soon. Just wanted to come here and wish twink a very very happy birthday from your ds2 and me! :bdaycake: Lots and lots of love from us both :j
OS today will probably consist of pasta for tea, and I will be putting on the WM later, and I also need to clear out the kitchen cupboards so will attempt that after work.
*hugs* to all, have a good day!0 -

Good morning all.
I'm having a cholesterol test this morning so I have not been able to have a drink or anything to eat and I'm absolutely dying for a cuppa and starving hungry, with at least two and a half hours to go before I can get back home and have something. Well, I suppose it's money saving!
It feels really cold here at the moment but hopefully will be another good drying day.
(((Hugs))) to all who are worried, anxious or unwell.
Dinner tonight is a casserole of sorts and I need to make a rice pudding for DH for afters. They'll both be made in the Remoska which is really earning its keep. I've just put the BM and the WM on and, once I'm back from the doctor's, I shall have a bit of a clean up because I'm back at work all day tomorrow and Friday. I at least managed to get all the ironing done yesterday. I'll try and get some more present-wrapping done this afternoon, too.
Well, I'd better go and clear up the breakfast things; DH has just left - with a tummy full of Weetabix and two cups of tea; admittedly, he did feel bad eating it in front of me!
Hope you all have a good day.

Morning all,
Up with the lark again worrying about the Op booked for 9.15.
N9eav, God I remember Gus, a rather fat bunny who also made the screen go different colours.
BM on and kitchen floor swept and swished, going to have a bath and enjoy it as I wont be able to have one for a while, got to keep my arm dry.
I'm going to be so bored not being able to do much but will be able to catch up with the dozens of books I want to read.
Haven't caught up with y/days thread so ((((((hugs))))))))) where needed.
