Beth, I woke up from a general once after having an operation on my eye and I was bawling my eyes out, all I could think to do was ask for my Mam (I was 17 and didn't live at home anymore but she was there) so I think it's quite normal (at least I hope so!), they kept telling me to stop it as op was on my eye and they were worried I'd hurt it, lol. Glad you're back home :)

Well the lasagne... in the end it was delicious and OH agreed! But the white sauce, what a nightmare. First of all the flour created boulder like clumps, so after a while of heating and stirring I sieved it then proceeded to add some more flour (slowly this time) and eventually the OH whisked it for me when he came in and said it would be ok in lasagne! It was good in the end though. Got some of Twink's hobnobs in the oven now and toasting your birthday with them. Pleased you've had a good time.

Night all, hugs to all who want/need them
  • Just popped in to say - DD2 is much better :j

Betheebee, I have been thinking of you, I am glad everything went okay :T

(everyone gets tearful under anaesthetic - I know I have)

Happy birthday and Many Happy Returns to Twink a "big" birthday too!

I hope the soap bubble came today ;)

We had pork steaks with apple sauce and cheese grilled on top. Sounds yuck but was yum :D I also had the WM on and made choc mufffins. I am envious of the bread from the pullman tin too - could this be the answer to the packed lunch snobbery here..?
Floss - Carmen was excellent thanks for asking

Hugs for everyone that needs them
  • Evening all :hello:

betheebee - glad the op went well :)
morwenna - just wondering whether this was the same Carmen as I saw the other week in Woking (Glyndebourne on Tour)? By my favourite director... and yes it was fab :D

Am making cottage pie, with mince bulked out with loads of veg. I've had a frustrating evening; spent quite a while on the phone with Direct Line trying to get a contents insurance quote only to find that with multiple discounts it's still substantially more expensive than what I pay now. I got some cheap quotes through confused.com, but they mainly seem to be worse-quality cover than I have at the moment. Also I think I need to change my front door lock, as insurers really don't like the one I've got. So why didn't the developers fit decent locks as standard when they built the flats

Anyway, need to get back to cooking...

    Rzl xx

  • Betheebee congrats on getting home from your op, I hope you quickly recover.

Twink now you have joined the sisterhood of 'grumpy old women' don't forget to go for all your discounts
    i.e.
    B&Q silver card 10% off

Boots health club 10% off .

Bus pass, Free to roam .
and if you become a student, then with your student card you can get discounts at Burtons, and almost any part of their group. I do get a funny look at times when I buy my DGS christmas present in Burtons but 'evry little helps and I am a student ,albeit one that is a bit long in the tooth (the ones I have left that is :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: )
if there is a pensioners discount then get it I do as it makes up for being a bit on the decrepit side, my outside may be a bit battered, but inside I'm as sharp as a tack;) I hope you have had a terrific birthday and may you have many more to come
    Cheers,JackieO:beer:
  • Just to say Betheebee, glad you are home & it all went ok. TAKE IT EASY!!!!!

    Evening all

Beth - please rest up lovey - you've had a hell of a day

looong day at w*rk today but the upside was that hitting Mr T later than usual I struck lucky in yellowstickerland - a yummy organic chocolate cake for 50p, bread for 5p, finest veggie cheesy pastry thing for 11p and loads of veggies. I might rejig my day a bit to see if that really is the best time to go

    have a good night all
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008
