Hi all - for some reason, for the last ten minutes, every time I click on an MSE forum, I've had the 'page cannot be displayed' message; I've just tried again and it's OK, now. Gremlins somewhere.

AussieLass - (((hugs))) to your DGS - I hope the sickness has gone and that you both get a good night's sleep.

Re: the blood test. My veins are usually hard to find but the nurse had no trouble today. I got there fifteen minutes too early because I was worried about the rush hour traffic, but I was seen immediately and was back home before my appointment time, devouring a huge bowl of porridge and several cuppas. I shall never take that first-thing-in-the-morning cuppa for granted again! I was feeling really deprived and grumpy.

Rice pudding is in the Remoska as I type and the veggies are prepped for dinner. I'm making stew in the Remoska for dinner and the veggies have to be cut up quite small; it's more preparation doing it that way, but so worth it because the stew is lovely and the meat is always really tender. I always add a teaspoonful of Marmite to my stews and it really enhances the flavour. There'll be enough left over to have for dinner on Friday so it's dead cheap.

I've just washed the kitchen floor and, once it's dried, will go and make a cup of coffee and settle down to some writing work.

I'm thinking of Beth but just glad that she's being forced to slow down. I'd love to have even half of her energy!

    See you later.

  • Morning all :hello:

Happy birthday twink :bdaycake: and best of luck to betheebee for the op.

I have a bit of a monster hangover this morning :o and I had such good intentions for last night as well! Was going to go home, do housework... what actually happened was I offered to buy a colleague a drink to say thanks for prioritising a piece of urgent work I needed from him, and it turned into a whole evening sitting chatting in the pub, mostly paid for by him :o (well, he does earn a lot more than I do!) To my credit I did eventually switch to diet coke, but that was about two drinks later than I should have done!

    So tonight I have to:
-Pop into Tesco for milk, fizzy water and a couple of other things (shouldn't need to spend more than about £3)
-Tidy my flat (NOT a one-evening job, but can make a start at least)
-Find a new home contents insurance policy (Halifax have put mine up 50% in two years for no apparent reason!)
-Make a cottage pie (spuds need using up)
-Archive a couple more things off the hard drive on my TV recorder thingy
-Do a delicates wash cos I've run out of clean bras :o
    -Change my bedsheets
-Pay the annual water bill

There are other things which really should be on this list but if I set the bar too high I'll only turn round and decide I can't be *rsed with any of it... result, one more day in a messy hovel with the same thing to eat today as I had yesterday. And in fact it wouldn't be just one day, cos I haven't got another real opportunity to get things done till next Monday. So these things MUST be done today.

Thanks thriftlady for jogging my memory about the advent calendar. I'm seeing my mum on Friday and I usually buy her one.

Hugs to all who are ill.

    Love Rzl xx

Happy Birthday Twink and good luck to Beth for her op.

Also hugs to anyone else who wants/needs them.

Well I have written my shopping list, DW is on and I'm about to head out into the cold for supplies. Lasagne for dinner tonight, this has never gone well when I've tried it before. Once when I was still a meat eater my flatmate left me written instructions and ingredients, only she forgot to write "Drain the fat" so it was swimming, lol. The last time I made one was as a veggie but I used completely the wrong sauce and it all went really dry and wrong. :rotfl: So, trying again today, got the recipe for white sauce and we'll see how it goes. I'm testing it on the OH tonight and hopefully making a big one to take away to our friends at the weekend. Also going to make some more of Twinks hobnobs (will sing happy birthday as I do :p). Might treat myself to a sanwich whilst I'm out...I have to take my antibiotics on an empty stomach and just taking some now so prolly will do that. Other than that I'm gonna stick to my list!

Someone suggested dipping the hobnobs in chocolate, I just wondered what I would rest them on to set? Would they not stick to whatever? Any ideas appreciated :o

Have a good one everyone, fingers crossed this lasagne works out ok!

Afternoon everyone. Busy day in work for me today and not the part I like at all. 15 reposession inspections and a reposession to carry out.

Meatballs & pasta for tea, packed lunch as usual, nearly ate that on the way to work, bad crash on the motorway meant gridlock on the side roads, left the house just after 8 and got into work at 10.50.

Tried the turnip & pear bake recipe we found last night, not a success I'm afraid, the cream curdled & it just tasted horrible.

Happy birthday to those celebrating their birthday, Twink I'll toast yours with a cuppa & a home made hob knob this evening.

Esor you can lie the hobnobs on greaseproof paper until the choccy sets and then they will just peel off.No need to grease the paper

Well I'm back from my hunter gatherer routine round the supermarket and I'm quite chuffed with myself cos for once I actually managed to get some bargains as the reduced meat section was stuffed with 1/2 price bargains so I nabbed loads of stewing steak, turkey legs, sausages and thin cut steak for the freezer. They have Utterly Butterly 1kg tubs down to £1 so got one of those and one of the £1 christmas puds too.You are only allowed two of the christmas puds per customer.Hubby got his Christmas Bonus today so I spent it:p well some of it anyway:D I bought my ES the boxed set of Dr Who series 4 DVD's they were £46 in asda which is a lot less than they are in the bbc shop. They had series 1,2, and 3 in for £25 a set we already have these so dont need them

I also got home to my meat delivery so now my freezers are quite literally crammed to the gills with loads of meat, sausages, bacon and blackpudding. They will soon disappear over the Christmas period though as we love our full brekkies and with six to feed thats a lot of bacon etc needed.

Wannabesybil - I know how much you hate playgroup but if I remember correctly didn't HV and the Dr recommend that he attend? If they did they might not be best pleased with you missing a session unless little bear is really too ill to attend. If it was me I'd take him and also take a good book to read while he plays

    Afternoon all.

Before I forget to say it, Happy Birthday Twink.

My brain really isn't firing on all cylinders today; I feel a bit coldy - Mr LW was sneezing a lot yesterday, so I think it's got to me as well. Also my eyes are very sore - good job I have an optician appointment on Monday.

Did a foray to Morrisons yesterday afternoon, and was pleasantly surprised not to spend as much as I'd thought I would. And Mr LW was kind enough to put the vacuum cleaner around the bungalow - it's a Dyson, and really too heavy for me, so him being happy to do it is really great.

I really should be tidying my computer desk - it looks like the corporation tip! But it's a daunting task - might leave it til next week when Mr LW is on annual leave, and get him to help.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Happy Birthday Twink!

Good luck Beth - hope it all goes well.

Sfejb - I had an M/C 4 years ago and it was awful but I have a very cheeky monkey now who wouldn't be here now if I hadn't have suffered my loss.

Spending today filling out application forms but I have an interview tomorrow. I'm off to a Body Shop party tonight - only buying two pressies which I need to get anyway. Had a bargain yesterday in Costco - buying LO's Christmas present at least £5 cheaper than I have seen it elsewhere.

Chicken and Veg curry from the freezer for tea. Might make an apple crumble if I get around to it!

I've had a mixed day today......

Made Stew for tonight, just finished baking Teacakes - I had to share one with DD2 just to check they were ok for human consumption ;). Flipping lovely even if i say so myself, mind you i thought Teacakes were supposed to be flat  mine are like footballs ;).

Hoovered through AGAIN, went for a waddle with DD2 to post Santa's letter and then to the park.

Have made my meal plan lets see if it works , off shopping tonight  only got £65 for the week

    wish me luck :rotfl:

Oh I also got to collect a carset and base from Freecycler....woohoo
